Currently using an i5-6500. Seems like it's not good enough to play Tera, which is a CPU intensive game... Any suggestions on what to get? I'm already getting GTX 1070. Gaming on 1440p. Has to be Nvidia btw

have u checked to see if it's the cpu bottlenecking your system? it shouldn't be sia. also, games dun require i7. if u want to get a better cpu, u need to get a 6600k and a z mobo to oc that.

Tera cpu intensive? i5-6500 not enough for Tera? Min. requirement pentium 4. Recommended requirement Core2Duo. Its your gpu. Change to your GTX1070 when you get it and you sld see a world of difference.

actually i went to the forums for tera and alot of pple are complaining of poor fps for tera even with the 6500. i guess this is just one of those poorly optimised game. some of them even use the 6600k and can get fps ranging from 20-80.

i think it is way more than sufficient

see when your GPU comes first

In this case i7 also no point since the problem lies with the game. I mean logically speaking nowadays even AAA titles wont have problems running on 6500, let alone a 4-5 yr old mmo. I hope ts didnt buy his 1070 just for tera. Wayyyyy overkill........

i7 hyperthreading won't really help with games. tera is just poorly optimised. look at the complaints if u google it.

there are cases where the game is not optimized enough, good CPUs also cannot play it well. Unless you OC you will not get higher framerates

but isnt tera like all mmo rpg games? where they are run by single thread??? meaning just using 1 of the highest max core it can provide for the games.

unfortunately that's not the case. this game machiam similar to another game i played; vermintide.

very nice graphics, good gameplay. plagued by horrible optimisation. and lazy devs.

From what I'v read, it's a very CPU intensive game. I'm using a GTX 970 already on a 1200p monitor right now... Shouldn't be getting 30 fps lol.

it's not about whether it's cpu intensive or not. poor optimization will make even the best cpu do crap. it's the devs fault. your gpu is more than enough.

Really? What about all that stuff about battlefield minecraft etc being cpu intensive games? So an i5 6500 will never bottleneck my gpu? :s31:

that's not what i exactly meant. if u look at what others are saying about tera, even people with overclocked cpus are having problems with the game being unable to achieve 60fps constantly. the i5-6500 is considered a good cpu and would not be likely to bottleneck your rig for most games; granted there might be some exceptions for really intensive games.

up till now i have yet to play any game that really pushed the cpu to the limits unless it's poorly optimised.
