Any kind soul can advise me what wrong with my CPU fan. Fan speed is normal when on but the speed is reduced significantly subsequently and error message is shown

Check your bios settings and also the fan speed limit upon alarm

Here is the video of my fan.

Fan speed - YouTube

whats the spec of your desktop? normaly if cold boot some mobos will power all the fans at full speed followed by slowing down to whatever the bios set it to be. If your bios has an alarm / low fan speed warning the fan might have triggered that alarm thus the error message.

are you also connecting the HSF to the CPU FAN header of the mobo ? why not try with another Chassis fan header and see if the problem persisists?

I'm leaning towards your bios setting for now till you confirm back.

cheers.,

But then I'm using this computer for very long already...don't have a spare fan to try..

Try with another chassis fan header not test with new fan

Sorry what do mean chassis fan header? You mean the metal thing that the fan is blowing? Like the heat sink?

In the case of bio setting which I didn't touch at, maybe will try to reset to default setting.

Based on the video I posted do you reckon that the motherboard is faulty ?

Can't sleep so I check it out. Tried on chassis fan header and the fan works spinning at 3000 rpm instead of 300...

So anyway to rectify this?

this means it's your bios which is trying to reduce the fan speed if I'm not wrong. check your fan control and set optimally. refer to your manual if unsure... usually if you attached you fan directly to the chassis connector and it spins full speed that means its working fine, as opposed to the CPU header which reduces the spin rate.

all this is all within the bios.....

oh and by the way please post your hardware spec especially your motherboard model as that drives the responses here in the event you have members using the same board.
