CPU suddenly slows down.

Hi. I'm having a problem..
My cpu used to be fast. But now it suddenly slows down. Last time loading of folders no need to wait, now need to wait as it finishes loading. You can see the loading bar on the folders loading..

When i play games such as CS GO, i get 40 fps and it will hang my PC. Never happened before to me.

I researched and i thought it's RAM problem. I bought new ram and replaced them. But it's still the same. (Haiya waste my money sia)

I think i'm tired of finding what's the cause of my cpu problem..
I asked here for the last chance before i think i'm buying a new cpu and sell this current cpu..

Try cleaning your pc internals first bah.. Mobo, fans.. Then maybe do a defrag also..

HDD.. haha.
i know.. but last time not as slow sia.
last time i play game, the fps 100++
now 40+ and will hang.
i bought this rig 3 years ago i think.. haha.

yeah.. i did already..
still the same. the temperature decreased abit after i cleaned the pc internals.
but the pc sluggishness is still the same..

I suspect too many processes running in the background.
Go to Task Manager and see the number of running process.

You may want to run msconfig to find out what programs load into memory at startup.

I suspect virus. Or some programs that is constantly running on background causing the CPU to work unstable.

I would suggest if this is already around here for sometime, just reinstall Windows, backup your files before that. Sometimes its just not worth the time troubleshooting the 101 possible causes.

To quick reinstall it, of course, get all your serial codes and product keys ready, this will eliminate all software based issues, if they still persist they are usually hardware issues.

That aside, for drivers, download them all and pack them to a single folder unzipped on an external drive. When reinstalled, simply go to device manager look for all the (!) devices, right click "update driver software", browse my computer for driver software, lead them all to that specific "driver" folder you created, it'll auto source for the drivers you direct it to, repeat for all softwares.

While virus is a very likely source, as the other user suggested process is also very possible and 4GB RAM is rather tight.

Once your system starts eating above 4GBs of RAM, it'll use the page file that's stored on your HDD and use it as "extra RAM". HDDs are already slow, when the page file is directly accessed it'll be even slower.
