CPU temps above 80 degrees?

I'm using R5 3600 with stock fan. I don't OC but it seems my CPU temp can hit 90 degrees while playing AC Odyssey. CPU and system fans alr set to max but the temps still suck. Not sure if there's anything I can do, or if I need to invest in a aftermarket cooling fan... If there is a decent one, feel free to recommend it to me

Those temps are still in the acceptable range but quite high for a 3600 TBH.

But you can always invest in a decent $50 aftermarket cooler. Will be quieter too.

i'm quite surprised about the temps as well since I heard the Wraith cooler is supposed to be good. Any suggestions for a decent cooler?

Is it your casing airflow direction is not correct? Otherwise stock setting should be easily cool by stock cooler.

Just reapply thermal paste first. Could be your previous one dried out. This is especially true when I used the MX-4 on my GPU. Changed to Thermal Grizzly Kyronaut and getting much better temps and a significantly longer period of time than with the MX-4 where the base temps will start to rise over time.

Secondly, could be the cooler is not coming into contact tight enough.

So if you had never experienced such issues before, then it is pretty much probably those 2 problems I mentioned.
Upgrading to another cooler might help. Noctua cooler seems the best. Quiet and effective and comparable to those AIO liquid coolers (the mid to low end of liquid coolers)

That's why sometimes its bad to read too much. Those who tell u that the stock cooler is good enough, they don't use it themselves. Reapplying thermal paste won't help, thats the temp you will get with the stock cooler. Best option is to upgrade to a better tower cooler.

That is incorrect and a poor assumption. The stock cooler can maintain a 70-75c temperature under load:

And this is in line with the systems I have built as well.

Above 80 indicates bad contact, insufficient mounting pressure, or weird fan setup.

The Wraith Prism is good. However, the 3600 comes with the Wraith Stealth which is not so good.

Nonetheless, the temp is on the high side. You may wish to reapply a good thermal paste which will cut temp by a few degrees.

The max temps I hit are 75 on my builds.

Upgrading cooler is always a good idea, though TS will need to make sure he installs it right.

u just bought your CPU?

long story short... only use Ryzen Master to monitor your cpu. as for temps, u using stock cooler? it takes time for the TIM to "sit-in". mine takes about 2-3 weeks... from ~53c to ~43c during idle.

Correct, and can cause an "observer effect" where the monitoring itself causes the clocks to stay higher, thus increasing temps.

To me 90 degrees is too high, you can cook an egg. I'm using Coolermaster Hyper 212 led cpu cooler and my cpu is between 35-40 degrees (loaded).

Ahh okay. I only noticed that when i use cpuid hw monitor it shows all my cores are in constant boost speed at idle whereas ryzen master shows the speed varying at idle.

Yeah that's too low. Loaded 60-65c is normal on 212x
