Friend passed me a brand new unused X79 MB.
Thinking of buying 2nd hand i7 3960X and reused all existing hardware.

X79 is compatible also with 3820, 3930, 4820, 4930, 4970, you have a range of cpu you can buy that are all much faster.

Buy another pair of 2x8gb ddr3 make up quad channels of 32gb memory and you have a spanking fast pc now.
