Im not really a fan but i usually buy what is cost effective for my purposes (including overclocking) and amd has generally scored on price performance until recently

so many AMD Fans?

to me it's more like cost efficiency. switched to amd after they started employing DEC engineers and came up with the EV6 athlons. x86 chip with 64bit extension is ahead of the pentiums.

in fact their K6-3 already faster than pentium 2s, but cost about 1/2 niah. why not?
