My roar suddenly died on me. Been using it for the last 1 to 2 years. Suddenly it just could not power up even with the adaptor connected. The 3 led lights will just light up and fizzle off within 2 seconds when i switched on the power. Guess either the battery is gone or perhaps circuit board blown. I have been leaving the adaptor charging the roar without switching it off for the last few months.

Anyone knows how much will creative charge for out of warranty repair. Or should i just get a new set instead. People has been advising me to get the roar and not the roar 2 if i intend to buy 1. Any comments?

Best Regards

There is no difference in the Roar and Roar 2.

It was just a redesign and cut down on unwanted exterior to make it lighter. And hence the bass reflector at both ends on the Roar 2 is exposed. Both are found with the same sets of speakers. And hence it sounds the same.

The Roar 2 on the other hand when you press the "Roar" button, it will say "Terra Bass on". Which it works the same as Roar 1, just that Roar 1 does not say "Terra Bass on", it just amplifies the sounds.

However, i have done a firmware upgrade over at Creative in IBP @ Jurong, It is actually a firmware found on Roar 2. And now my Roar 1 have the "Terra Bass on" feedback.

Now, talking about repairs, try going down to Creative and see if they can help you. One thing about them is their Service Centre really top notch, and they close one eye when there is no receipt/out of warranty/not repairable etc, they will still serve you and they will see what they can do for you. And best part is one of my colleague actually got his Roar 1 RMA due to the same issue you had, and was out of warranty for 3 months. Yet the Service Centre still do not bother, and just exchange it.

Hi RoyFrosty,
Thanks for the clarification. Will pop by creative to see how much it charges for the repair. If too expensive, then no choice get a replacement instead.

My roar bought during launch has the "Tera Bass on" notification.. :p

The problem i face with my Roar is that there are times when the roar stays on refusing to connect to anything or turn off.
