Haha. Cancer thread.

Just a side note from the graph. Li batteries can charge at 1C only if battery temperature maintains at 25deg Celcius. Otherwise it's best to charge at 0.5C or lower.

In the end I just decided to use my Creative 15V adapter and put a dumb resistor for the SLA. SLA full charge is at 14.4V so I just need constant check my volt meter.

I also bought a single cell NiMH charger to charge to 1.4V but it seems not to charge full. Should have use LM317 and set to 1.4V and manual charge instead. I waste too much good money.

I see, that would be the case.

But how creative engineered an input DC15v to the circuitry voltage drop to 8.7v is amazing, how did they manage that huge amount of heat generated by the 6.3v which must dropped across many components? The resistors either a big ass or multiple cascading bleeding resistors to take such a huge load of heat dissipation. If this is the case, the efficiency won't be presentable let alone long lasting.

Nowadays IC does DC-DC switching voltage, by switching at high frequency the efficiency can get above 80%. Battery charging solutions are available from companies like TI, NXP, Linear, etc. Just to name a few.

Linear charging is still available but is only limited to 5V input. Taobao have a lot selling.

Anyone have any idea if we can remove the battery and go plug-in mode only? I have the iRoar Rock and would like to keep it plug in directly.

You might as well get a better speaker for that purpose... the Creative D5 regularly sells for $70 on carousell 2nd hand and sounds way better than any of the roar.

For those who are still reading this thread, if your battery is dead you can still power up the roar. Just plug out, plug it in and while the LED is cycling, press and hold the power button. It will power up and run off AC.

Is easy to open, cheap to get the battery.
But you need to solder the cable back...i give up in the battery parts

Bye bye roar 2...exactly 2 years

Same here!

I bought my Roar 2 on Aug 2018. Now, Aug 2020, it is starting to give me this charging issue :/ ... and looking at this thread (and the YouTube DIY video), it looks like so other people also facing issues with their Roar 2 too.

After just two years, sianz... -_-

No more (made in China) Sound Blaster for me. Wanted to support local brand but end up so disappointed :( :(

All Portable Speakers with Batteries have the same issue.
Once Battery dies, Speakers cannot power on.

My Roar 2 has finally expired. Plug in cannot charge. Try to turn on, think maybe 1 (out of 3) light on.

Cost me $139, last me just around 2+ years. Didn't use it heavily, max usage is 2 hours a day.

If anyone wants my Roar 2, charger, and the carrying-case, please PM me.

Now I have switched to using JBL Go 2 ($40). Not made in China! Tracking usage carefully this time, let's see how long this lasts!

I have a faulty roar (dead battery). But it works fine when plugged in. Hit me up if you are interested in taking over.

I still have the full box set.

Service charge to fix the ROAR?

No it's not service charge to fix the iroar but to repack the battery pack. The battery pack of iroar got a circuit board which is wrapped withe the 3x batteries.

The Unicell will do a better job wrapping the 3 batteries with the circuit board that is why I gave them to repack. Iroar you have to open carefully without breaking its parts yourself ... I really feel pissed of with my carelessness of leaving battery pack in the park which I collected from Unicell. I took it back to shop he declared it as dead so 4 rounds to sim lim and $34 plus extra kopi snack and all .... Not worthy I guess ...
