Just hootz creative zxr and tried analog 5.1 and dolby and dts via optical to logitech z906. The surround in analog is so good vs dolby when dog barking from behind, i actually turned my head around thinking a dog was behind me.

Gonna try pairing it with aego m 2.1 but my wire not long enough, any idea where to get or buy this cable?

Turtle Beach, Inc. - X31,X3 Stereo Audio Splitter Cable

Thanks.

You are also using AegoM 2.1 :D can u share with me Aego M 2.1 + ZXR experience? i wanna get a new soundcard for my Aego M

This is the one. No horse run. The clarity is even better than my Focus XS in built DAC.

interesting...although the thd soundchip is actually more powerful than zxr, are you sure the settings of zxr cannot use eax/cmss3d eq of dolby sound, is that what you meant by tweaking the digital mix?

btw if possible use dts instead of dolby. dts compression rate is 1.5mbps if not wrong, more than twice better in theory than dolby. :D

but in the end if you can use analog cables for surround, may as well stick to that, it is higher audio quality. dts and dolby are just more convenient single cable solution that uses your speaker decoder box assumingly higher quality DAC. another downsides of dts/dolby is they introduce some latency, means the game move millisecond before the sound...some may noticed some dont.

Yup in the past on the THD i can use dolby with cmss , crystaliser, EQ etc, on the ZXR when i go dolby and use those features, it will disable dolby and go pcm. i think analog bitrate is 24 bits 96k and digital is 24 bits 192k bitrate.

Well i do need dolby too for my headphones, its turtle beach xp400 wireless headset and run on dolby. Its not really a big deal but just pointing out the differences between the THD and ZXR

1 more thing to note is the ACM audio control module. The mic is pretty good but if you connect your headphones to the ACM, it sounds a lot softer compared to plugging the headphones directly to the back of your card. I'll just bypass the ACM and plug the headphones directly to the back of the card.

Didn't try dts on games yet and i didn't experience the lag on digital or dolby. Maybe my connection is just to the logitech z906 speakers and to the headset. I didn't use an amp then route to logitech z906 and the headset

Im using the X-fi HD DAC paired with the bose companion 2 seriesII 2.0 setup. It's a decent DAC to be honest. Def sound better than onboard, at least, i can heard the diff.

What speakers you using?
Main reason why I want a DAC is the amount of ports + no need to plug all the way in the rear of the pc case. Also heard of many advantages of DAV over sound cards.
Will decide and get by end of nov.
Waiting for more reviews on the Xonar U7, thinking if I should get that, or X-fi HD DAC or a xonar stx/titaniumHD sound card.

anybody can share with me their experience with the ACM on Zx?

i've read reviews saying that the ACM degrades the sound quality as compared to plugging in directly from the back of the sound card.

The ACM is a attenuator..Think you have to max the knob to have the same effect as direct from the card.

Using it with Altec Lansing ATP3 and mm300...:).. This speaker really damn good...been using for 10 years.

Ok i just tried pairing the aego m and swans m50w with a rca splitter together with my logitech z906 from my desktop.

Its definitely better than the onboard realktek 1150 with sound blaster cinema codecs on the msi z87-gd65 motherboard. I kinda like aego m + zxr more over swans m50w + zxr. The music is so much more richer and dynamic with the zxr vs onboard. But of course the swans bass is damn impressive its so tight and punchy with the zxr. It sounds slighty better over my sound blaster premium hd too.(You need to turn on the volume really loud to hear a bit of difference).

Overall no regret buying this card and i will definitely recommend it to anyone who loves music or sound for gaming or leisure.

Yups. Superb combination. You can tell the difference when you are playing a high-quality FLAC file. Love my setup! :D

Once you change to Focal XS , you would even feel more shiok. I never look back after changing from Ageo M.
