Creative Stage or logitech 623?

Which would be a better 2.1 system option for my desktop usage? Occasion gaming and watching movies mainly.

logitech 2.1 sucks dont waste $150.

THX certification does not indicate quality, but how loud speakers can go.

you can hear voice coming from sub instead of speakers

At 30% volume you get clipping

The bass is strong but doesnt sound good.

The mids in music doesnt sound good.

the power and volume knob spoil easily, dont adjust too much and switch off via mains

There will be cracking/hissing sound if your audio source is not grounded.

I would have been disappointed if that was my main speakers. But I managed to buy for $50 from a disappointed user in carousell.

Using swans m10 as main speakers and using z623 mainly for the subs, both driven by creative sound blaster play 3 usb dac

Whether Logitech or Creative speaker.
After a period the product will fail but Creative speaker tend
to fail/break down easily.

For your usage, Z623 will be ideal but be mindful of the powerful bass.
So don't turn up the bass all up.

Tough call in terms of absolute sound quality I guess?

Easy call when you take price into consideration $400 can buy lots of things.

Less choices for $100+ price range tho.

If you want a 2.1, it would be M10 if you want to focus more on treble performance, z263 if you want bass that actually reaches 40Hz. And if you want 2.0, the 1080-IV looks like a good price right now.

No, better off with Z623.

Its a dac/amp combo and you shouldn't be amping those type of speakers. Thats why 30% is loud and you get clipping.

As long as the actual signal amplitudes are not exceeded, there will not be clipping regardless of type of source - be it line out, headphone out, speaker out, OTL tube...

Similarly, as long as the final output volume of the speaker is not exceeded (i.e. trying to pump 100dB into an amp/speaker capable of 90dB), there will not be clipping unless setting problem.

However, if the amp is old and the capacitors are starting to degrade, the max output volume before clipping will drop.

At $129, these speakers blow the 2 rubbish speakers you were considering out of the water.

E-MU XM7 Bookshelf speakers. Go ahead and google for reviews. Even reviews on Amazon is highly positive. They are just that good.
This is an off-brand of Creative but for very premium audiophile level of reference monitor speakers and headphones. And at $129, its quite a steal.

It will be even better if you can get a dedicated subwoofer with the extra money you save.
