No point buying a SGD$200 and above Speakers with onboard sound.

If you plan to get soundcard, then grab a DAC + AMP and Headphones for it.

If you plan to get soundcard, then grab a DAC + AMP and Headphones for it.

Back in the day I use to own audiophile grade headphones/earphones etc. such as Alessandro MS-1, Mylarones, and some others also (now forget already), paired with Burr Brown DAC. I used these with Creative T3 as well.

Nowadays I find that onboard sound has enough detail on Creative T3 (which is my daily usage speakers, almost 8 years old, and still sounds good). So +1 for Creative.

Consider a simpler 2 speaker setup without sub-woofer.

After a while most people lower the subwoofer output anyway until it contributes very little.

Good 2.0 speakers outweighs 2.1 IMO. Also easier to move around/portable and occupies less space.
