Hi guys,

I signup a few credit cards that required certain amount of spending in order to receive bank interests. Example SC requires $1k spending, OCBC requires $500.

I’m planning to buy several pieces of furniture costing up to $3,000 in total. The shop offers an instalment plan.If I choose instalments, will it still be counted as monthly spending for my card, so that I don’t need to spend as much in the following months to meet the spending requirement?

Like mentioned above, most if not all the cards don’t count instalment towards eligible spend for bonuses. You may wanna consider splitting the payment to two cards from the beginning

One method is to use BNPL services e.g. Atome. Usually BNPL services will count towards bank rewards. But check the relevant MCC.

Or buy the sofa in January, armchair in February, coffee table in March.

The danger here is (of course) that you'll spend more than you otherwise would simply because you're trying to chase points, miles, rebates, etc. Or, worse yet, pay interest and fees.
