100 per barrel hit few times already an la.

Oil prices have surged above $100 per barrel approximately 5 times in modern history, with the most recent spike occurring in March 2026 due to conflicts in the Middle East.

Key Historical Times Oil Exceeded $100:
March 2026: Oil surged past $100 (reaching roughly $114-$120) amid the Iran-Israel conflict and threats to the Strait of Hormuz.
2022: Prices exceeded $100 in early March, peaking over $120, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

2011–2014: A prolonged period where Brent crude stayed above $100 for nearly three years due to the Arab Spring and sanctions on Iran.

2008: WTI crude hit a then-record of $147.27 in July 2008, driven by high global demand and supply constraints before falling during the financial crisis.

1979–1980: Following the Iranian Revolution and the start of the Iran-Iraq war, prices rose to the equivalent of over $100 in inflation-adjusted dollars.
