Hi guys, I'm going to Osaka in the next few days. Just wondering where do you guys change money? Because I'm not in Singapore at the moment so I'll have to change over in japan.

It probably wouldn't be the best to change at the airport because of the low exchange rate so I'm thinking of changing in the city. Does anyone know where can I get a good exchange rate with low service charge?

Thanks in advance!

he mentioned he'll have to change in japan.

@op Try daikokuya. The rates are better than the banks, or just get money from ATMs?

There's going to be a service charge of around SGD$20-30 for withdrawal from the ATMs and there's a daily limit on how much you could withdraw IIRC.

The exchange rate of the 7-11 ATMs(if you disregard the service charge) is almost on par with the daily rates you get from Arcade... I withdrew a small amount once, rates was almost similar to the online forex rate but was shocked by the service charge of SGD$25 for withdrawing SGD$200 when I got home to look at my balance.

That said, if you withdraw SGD$2000 at once, it should be better (even with the service charge) than the Japanese bank rate which is always at least 0.3 or 0.4 cents per 1000yen less than the rates from our local money changers.
