Current setup still worth gfx upgrade?

Hi guys, been contemplating if my setup can still go on for the next few years with just GPU change from my existing R9 290 4GB to probably 980Ti.

Rest of my specs are:
MSI Z77A-G41 with i5-2500K @ 3.3GHz
RAM @ 8GB
Dell U3415W monitor @ 3440x1440

So far it has been working well for me with games like TitanFall/BF4 between mid/high. Looking forward to Oculus Rift next year and wonder if 980ti will help.. Just exploring the option as had not been following up closely and am rather unsure now. thanks~

quite a number of games will benefit from a cpu overclock with a 980ti

You need to have a really good monitor to get the full benefits of thr 980ti. Else, the current would be sufficient for now.

Hmm.. Thanks for the feedback guys. I must say my current R9 290 has been pretty good so far. At run at high/ultra at 1080p but suffers abit at 3440x1440. Not planning for 4K since U3415w is a very fine monitor.

Just contemplating on the change to 'future proof' abit for VR and also all these promos on lazada/qoo10 makes one really itchy to hoot.
