[Custom] Help with Building a Streaming PC

I will like to build a custom streaming PC to stream some pre-recorded video and webcam footages on YT, Twitch, etc at the same time with different accounts. So the PC have to be able to handle multiple boardcasting software at the same time with 2-3 monitors.

I have no idea where to start from other than knowing my processor have to be very good to handle the multi tasking. Please help me with this project!

Budget is $2k pushing $2.5K. Will be playing minimum games.

if you want to diy multistream, i guess any modern/random intel quad core cpu would be fine for 2~4 (up to 3x x264 + 1x quicksync) 720p streams

A very good start would be setting a budget first.

For starter, see what CPU you need. Would recommend AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, 8 core 16 threads for multi tasking very heavily since you will be streaming and doing things at the same time. If your software works better with Intel, getting the i7-8700, 6 cores 12 threads would be good. Cheaper option if you have budget restriction, can go for AMD Ryzen 5 2600X also 6 cores 12 threads. If even Ryzen 7 won't cut it, might consider Intel i9 or AMD Threadripper

Motherboard will depend on your choice of CPU.

Depending how heavy will you be multitasking and also what softwares will you be using. I'd suggest at least 16GB RAM.

SSD is a must for boot drive and work drive. Speed is essential. A budget one is SATA ones like Samsung 860 EVO. If you can afford, get NVMe SSD like the Samsung 970 series. The rest, go for HDD for storage of read and write files.

PSU and GPU TBD since need budget to work it out hahaha

What kind of resolution will you be playing at which in turn determines what kind of graphics card and monitors will be the most important question. It will take up the most of your budget.

Does what GPU actually matter for non 3D purposes (unless he is streaming some game which need the GPU prowess)?

Some streamers like lirik play at 1440p 144fps, some like daequan and ninja play at 1080p. 1440p 144fps gtx 1080 won't cut it.

What I mean is... he isn't streaming games. And therefore there isn't any 3D graphics involved. And for 2D, even onboard graphics more than suffices, no? When was the last time you heard of anyone lagging playing a facebook game using Intel graphics? And videos are by default 24fps fixed no? And 4K video playback isn't a problem at all for Intel graphics.

Yeah he is a little vague. Never say what sort of content. In fact, he may be intending to play games and then upload later. Which mean he would need a powerful GPU.

You're welcome but I'd suggest you do a bit of research on the parts I suggested. While they are of good value in my mind, best for you to know a bit more for yourself to make sure you know what you're buying.

RAM you can try tweak to 2666mhz from the BIOS to maximize your RAM bandwidth offered by the motherboard and CPU. AFAIK, 2400mhz RAM usually able to hit 2666MHz no problem MOST OF THE TIME. Unless you're unlucky, otherwise you should be able to hit 2666MHz even with Valueram.
