I have a rig I built 3 years ago . specs are
Intel i5 2400
16gb 1600mhz ram
Seasonic M12ll 620w psu
MSI twinfrozr III GTX 680
Samsung EVO 240 gb SSD
intel 180gb ssd
WD green 1TB HDD
Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2h-B3 mobo

the problems i've had with it before are constant crashing which I've went to a shop in SIMLIM which diagnosed it was a mobo problem which i've already swapped to the current mobo i have . But few months ago , after updating my drivers , my games just started to freeze and have distortions in sounds . it was minor at first and after re-seating everything , the freezes went away but after a couple of days a ticking sound appeared from my PSU . i didn't pay much attention to it as it didn't cause me any issues whatsoever . However last night while i booted up my pc , i was doing light browsing and started to watch a video and thats when my screen kept blacking out saying that the nvidia kernel driver kept crashing . I ran DDU in safe mode to remove the current driver , and then installed the 362.00 which was said to be the most stable . However it still kept crashing . and after rebooting , the pc REFUSED to turn on . it was turning on without display and no post and it kept going off and on . I took a GT620 i had lying somewhere and fit it in , and it still refused to turn on . i then took out the CMOS battery and held the power button with power cord removed . after so i put back in the gtx 680 and booted up . however this time it booted up as I could hear the windows sound . but there was no display . and judging by how my keyboard froze at one color(had it in breathing mode) , the pc froze . this happened also with the GT620 . Please help as I'm absolutely clueless and I don't wish to bring it to a shop as they'll just charge me for 'troubleshooting' .
EDIT: My PC boots up normally with display when there is NO video cards installed .

Will do so now and let u know asap . I have 0 idea if it's the PSU's fault or not as the ticking sound has been here for a few months already . The MB i've changed is from Asrock H61M-DGS mobo to the current one i have which is the Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2h-B3 .

Ok I've plugged in my GTX 680 and now it works suddenly . but just not on HDMI . I'm using the DVI-VGA adapter . it works fine but the colors are definitely abit off . ofc to be expected from VGA . Does this mean that the HDMI port on my card is dead ?

Yea I've concluded that the HDMI port somehow just died on me . Pls people with old cards be warned . do not update to new drivers as they will kill your card overtime . especially 362.

Another story of new Nvidia drivers damaging the GPU.
