Built this rig 2 years ago.

Sys specs:
Asus rog rampage iv extreme
I7-3820 3.6ghz clocked to 4.3ghz
Corsair H100i CPU cooler
AMD R9 290 4gb ref in quiet mode
2x 8gb corsair vengence 2133
Seasonic 1200w platinum PSU
2x samsung pro ssd 128gb
1x WD 3.5" black 4tb HDD
Window 7 SP1 x64

Modifications done:
2 months ago I update this rig with ax860i, r9-290 gpu. Ran like a clockwork, no problem. Except r9 was running 45 during idle.
About 3 weeks ago I update it with samsung pro 128gb ssd and WD 4tb HDD. Installed windows and alots of program as well as music. No problem.

But just last week, my com will suddenly turn off on its on, no matter if I'm playing Dota, surfing the net, or in the bios changing some settings.
No bsod, no error.
Once it turn off, only the start/reset light and bios light is lid, all fan is turn off, no sign of rebooting. Unable to boot up using the start button, or shorting the power pins.
Only able to boot after turning off PSU and waiting for 30-1hr, variable timing.

So far what I've done:
1.clean up every piece of equipment, dust free. Reapply thermal paste on CPU. Use 1 ram stick, 2 ram stick.
2.ensure wirings are seated correctly, no gaps. Mobo and gpu all getting enough power. R9 is using 2x 12v rails.
3.monitor temperature while stressing the CPU and gpu.
CPU maintained steady at 35-43degree. Gpu maintain at 70-78degree. But suddenly turn off around 30-40min.
4.use alternate gpu, problem still persist. Use alternative PSU, problem still persist.
5.reset bios, remove overclock settings, everything in default mode. Used both bios1 and bios2. Updated the bios, problem still persist. Additional information: bios screen is distorted, will post picture at night.

Anyone experienced similar problems? Any comments? Idea? Any and all help will be appreciated.

Most likely.. I've left using alternate ram and reflashing the bios. If this 2 still can't work, then I've to buy a new board as chip.

Before you go and buy a new motherboard, you may want to pay a visit to PC Care & Solution at #02-32 and ask Nigel to test your motherboard for you as that is a pretty expensive motherboard that you have.

Had the same issue a few days back. It just powered down without warning and when rebooting its like nothing happen before, then it happen again and again. Couldnt figure out where to start the troubleshooting until I accidentally touches some of the sata cable for the hdd when the pc was on.Voila!! everytime when I touched the sata cable connecting the ssd with the os, it powered down. So its either a faulty sata cable or the sata port on the mobo. Suggest you swap your hdd with os to another sata port and see if it happen again:)

Will try when I get home! If that's really the case then imba stab myself in the stomach for wasting so much time trying "repair".

Tried it yesterday, different port, different cable. Doesn't seems to be it.

Since you have checked ram gpu cpu and psu, bring your mobo to gs shop to save the hassle of bringing the whole pc over unless you aren't sure of any one of them.
