I have renamed my custom tone to m4r. How am I able to transfer to the iPhone on my Mac?

Depends on what’s your macOS, Catalina-just drag and drop the file on the iphone on finder, older macOS thru iTunes.

Tried doing so but nothing happens.

Is the m4r file fit the guidelines in above link? Encoding and under 30secs?

Yes it is. Had been making m4r tones for a long time already. Just that now I can't transfer to the iPhone.
