Damaged my Brother colour laser printer by installing OEM toners. Seems like the fuzer unit is gone. To fix have to buy a new fuzer unit for 100+. Then need to get new toners. Because of the bad experience of OEM I should get original, which will cost 450 for four toners, which alone is more than a new colour laser printer.

So I am looking for a replacement and will dispose of this one. Maybe ink tank as the ink is cheaper. Infrequent use, maybe twice a month printing for the kids. Appreciate any recommendations.

hahaha... you're sponsoring the printing for your kids HBL only? Not for yourself at all?

haven't been following printer tech

are u looking for b/w or colour printer?

ink tank, not sure will dry up or not

b/w laser, below $200 can find, no need to worry about ink drying

Thanks all for the recommendations. Features I need are:

1. Colour
2. Good for low volume
3. Price <300 preferably

Features I don't need
1. All in one. Printer only is enough
2. Duplex
3. Wifi (but nice to have)

Wondering if a cheap Canon inkjet will be a good option. One original cartridge is about 20+, and can print 140 pages. Maybe it is enough to get me through 6 months.

Laser the problem is original toner is very expensive. After buying third party I spoiled my fuzer, so unless the original toner is cheap it seems not economical.

What you got is 3rd party, not OEM. OEM = manufacturer for Brother/Canon, not some random brand. Ink is definitely cheaper for infrequent use, but have to do some print every other week to prevent print head from clogging up.
