I do not agree that it is entirely a user problem. I do not know if TS is referring to the cables not working entirely (i.e. not able to charge at all) but I personally feel that the casing surrounding the lightning cable end gets disconnected very easily, exposing the wiring inside. The cable still works though. Personally I feel it is more of a design flaw rather than a lower quality cable. But if we are talking about cables working (syncing/charging) then no, I have never had this issue with any original cables. They all work even if the casing comes loose.

I found the Griffin lightning cable to be the best so far. Although it is 0.2m shorter, the section holding the lightning pin is one whole piece rather than a casing enveloping the wires. Therefore, there is no chance of it slipping down from repeated pulling.

And just in case anyone says it's my problem the cables spoil, I can assure you I am a VERY careful user of my things. My iPhones are always in tip top condition even after two years and I always feel it is a waste whenever i trade-in during re-contract.

hey guy, try to keep maintain your original apple lightning cable, as long as your phone is under warranty, you can exchange till your jaw drop. I got my lightning cable and ear pod exchanged at Singtel (Somerset). Of course 1to1 exchange on original only.

Every new IOS patches it will silently block those 3rdparty, some lucky one will escape, yah ppl will said can JB, or better clone cable will come, anyway it up to individual...

You know, I feel that rather than try your luck with $10 cables each time, why do people not just spend $28 to get the original that definitely works?

I bought 3 or 4 $10 cables previously only for all of them to not work properly with my phone. Then I gave up and bought an original. I spent about $60 in total including the spoilt cables when I could have spent half that the first time.

I get that not everyone may be able to purchase originals especially if they require more than one, but still...

I bought monoprice's mfi cables. So far so good. Tough but not overly thick.

TS can try micro usb with lightning adaptor. not the cheapest option but may be more durable. pls only buy adaptor from apple in case others don't work.

Probably is user problems.. my lightning cable with me with for more a year liao and working strong until my food accidentally leak and damage the cable

No issues with my original cable, 2 years already. Don't buy those fake lightning, they don't last at all. Try not to tug on the cable while it's plugged in, avoid using altogether when charging if possible to not put extra strain on the connector ends.

You might want to consider getting the lightning to microusb adapter, then use an android microusb cable.

I find those third party samsung microusb cables on qoo10 alot more durable at the connector ends and thicker as well.

My extra cable that I bought last year is beginning to be faulty. Only thing is I dont have the receipt. I do have the box. Will I be allowed to change it at any AARP? Do they strictly need the receipt before they can exchange?

Also, if a receipt is needed, can I just borrow someone's receipt or someone's iphone (in warranty) and exchange my faulty cable? Of course I will hope not to do this, but I really dont think paying 28 AGAIN is worth it for a lousy build cable.

u can just bring it down if u are sure that it is orginal and is in warranty. the cables come with serial number with laser printer on the cable. But if ur cable is first few batches,some ppl reported that their cable is orginal and does not have serial number printed on it.
