Hi guys

trawled the web but couldnt find much on the above...

As we all know daps are recently very popular but i still cant rationalise holding another device around with a crazy price costing nearly double flagship phones for tech inside 3-4 generations behind.

Can anyone shed some light on the audio quality versus dacs like the ifi idsd nano or micro or any dac amp with dedicated lineout via
lightning?

Also if youre the kind that changes songs every 30 secs how do u survive without spotify? I dont listen to whole albums maybe 1-2 songs per album and its crazy to rip so many wasting time downloading

Can anyone share on the above?

Actually, most of the dedicated DAP is actually smaller in form factor than the iFi Nano iDSD :D

Since you can get by with the quality of Spotify, why are you bothered with getting an external DAC / headphones amplifier :s11:

another issue is cost... not really rational to pay $1700 for an AK when people dont use mp3 players anymore imho

so im curious what makes you guys want DAPs :)

i am happy with spotify 320kbps so far but if daps reduce in cost i might consider

independent players(DAP in this case) have better sound, to ears and by electronic measurements

if u are happy with 320kbs, there is no need to buy expensive DAP... just wasting money

the highend DAPs are getting more and more expensive, 1k+

this is a DAP, suitable for u

also... how about a good phone .... on paper it sounds good... the sound quality should be superior than most phone

Wait till you have first hand experience with AK240 playing a well recorded track in DSD natively off a compatible head/earphones.

You can always go for a basic DAP, no one said die die must get AK100I minimum... Fiio X1, ibasso DX50 or Sony A series.

And the reason why i separate DAP and phone is due to battery life. I need my phone for work, cant have it die on me due to listening to music.

Beside better sound quality, battery life is also a concern
why some carry a DAP.
I too listen Spotify on DAP together with high resolution 24 bits
files.

Because AMDK approved?

Just comes across as weird, coz a phone and a DAP have diff core competencies.
One could of coz use a phone as a music player, but of coz, the SQ will be compromised.

A phone can never be a DAP even if you add a DAC.

And if you are using a good iem, it really defect the purpose if you not using a DAP.

icic. so far have not been able to find songs i like in dsd. for me i find listening to songs i like trumps the absolute format.

even if give those dsd but not the genre i like like not much point
