Hi

I have a data point in the room. However when I plugged in the network cable, my PC does not detect any network.

Just wondering, do I need to do anything at my router or ONT to activate this room’s data point?

Your router should connect to the other end of the lan cable at the patch panel

To be abit more precise, its basically placing your router into the DB box and connect it to the respective data port for the room which you wish to connect. However do take note by doing so will compromise the WIFI coverage for your house

It does not make much sense to put a wireless router in the DB box, especially good ones.

Two ways to sort out the issues for those who have the patch panel in the DB box.

1) if there are two LAN ports in the living console area, then it is okay to put the main router in the living area and then add a switch in the DB box.

2) put a wired router in the DB box.
