Hi all,

Need some advice. Moving into a new place, data points previously installed. Electrician said equipped with Cat 6 cables. But need to buy a switch.

My question is, how does it work ? From the 'DB' box to the switch or something to telephone line ?

Thank you. Apologies, i have zero knowledge on this.

The 4 LAN ports on your router are actually a mini switch.
Buy a switch to cater for the extra data ports for your new place.

On the market, there are
1.10/100 mbps switch
2. 10/100/1000 mbps switch.
Pls open your eyes wide wide, b4 purchase.

On top of that, there are
1. manage switch
2 unmanage switch.
For home use, unmanage/dummy switch will be more than enough.

You only need manage switch if your isp is Singtel + still using ONT.
if your are Singtel new user , they will issue you ONR, in this case you DO Not need to get any manage switch.

All other ISP, dummy switch is enough.
