Data recovery shop in SLS?

Why don't get a 2.5" USB casing and put your HDD into it? Should be able to retrieve the data just for the cost of the USB casing.

No idea but if I really need to do data recovery, I'll pony up the 2K needed and get it done professionally.

Not really recovery per say, just need to transfer data from old HDD as we don't have the tools to rip open a laptop

Then you do it for him lo. Just get a cheap 2.5in hdd casing and transfer out.

S$20 vs >S$500. Choice is clear in your friend case.

Managed to convince him. Meeting him this week see how we can extract HDD

Ask him to take a photo of the Sony laptop bottom and post here. If there is a small rectangular opening for HDD access, then it is a easy job. If the back cover is a whole piece without any small access, then thing is not so straight forward.

In the past, I came across a Sony lappy that the HDD access is right under the left palm rest. Need to remove back cover, keyboard and palm/mouse track to access.

Most laptop should have easy access to HDD. But some older model iirc do not. Need open the entire back to take out. Both isn't difficult, just more time consuming.
