Tbh right... Flexiroam isn't worth it when they ain't giving the Buy 1 Get 1 Free Global Data promo. Should take Singtel's DataRoam Unlimited Daily. Some countries have charge of $19 per day, or $25 per day, or $29 per day.

Recently, I travel to China, Macau, Hong Kong and US.

I used WeFlySim for internet data.
You can purchase it from Qoo10.

Advantage
One SIM card for worldwide. My phone will auto switch to local telco for internet.
Weflysim SIM card has no expiry date
Can use Google services, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp in China (not require VPN)
The WeFlySIM support is always online (via WhatsApp).
Can top up the data while on the go

Disadvantages
No local phone numbers.
- Some places that provides free WiFi, they need a local phone to receive SMS to activate the free WiFi.
- my local contact reaches me via WeChat or WhatsApps
No way to check data usage online.
- have to check using phone counter, but may not correct as telco may calculate data usage differently

going macau/china, use m1 datapassport ($10+$2 activation) better or the free 1GB flexiroam better?

Turn-off SingTel AutoRoam & Pay As You Roam

word of caution for SingTel users ... if u do not need overseas roaming from SingTel, besides unsubscribing or terminating AutoRoam, you should also cancel the "Pay As You Roam" service

if you just cancel AutoRoam, you will then be charged under Pay As You Roam which carries exorbitant rates ... eg $35 for 1 MB (yes 1 MB data)

I was using Starhub HappyRoam, turned on roaming and was also charged under SingTel Pay As Your Roam

I think no need, just not to enable Data and Data Roaming for your SingTel SIM when overseas.

Be careful if you have a dual sim phone. If you have SIM1 with SingTel and SIM2 with Starhub Happyroam, then you should disable data / data roaming for SIM1.

oh well. Guess if that is the case, have to set network to manual to China telcom

Why lock to China Telecom? Just let it be for Starhub Prepaid card Happy roaming.

China Mobile has the best coverage so you got better chance of getting 4G from it.

If got no 4G for some reason, the best fall back is China Unicom 3G which is WCDMA. China Mobile 3G is TD-SCDMA which at least got chance that your phone can support.

If got no 3G either, then China Mobile and China Unicom will at least have 2G (GSM).

China Telecom 3G is CDMA2000 and 2G is CDMA, both having issues with many phones in Singapore.

StarHub postpaid has one of the best roaming plan at $15/+2gb/30 days/any operator. Pretty no brainer to me.

Sent from Sony Xperia XZ2! using GAGT

Agree. Did 3.5 wks of travel in UK, Finland, HK, Macau, China, Malaysia & Bangkok recently. Just took Datatravel Asia 3GB for $20 and Giffgaff at 4GB ÂŁ7.50.

Best solution !! Should work for TS

hey guys, im selling my flexiroam global data bundle (covers pretty much on par if not better than singtel highest tier roaming plan), expiry 30 mar 2020. (10 months from now). $12 per GB. I have about 15gb to let go because i don't use as much anymore these days.

i will send the data to you via flexishare but you must have a flexiroam sim already. even expired account with zero data is fine.

this is perfect for frequent traveler who prefer long validity over high data usage in a short burst.

works perfectly in China fully unblocked. no vpn required.

pls PM me or whatsapp 9.232333.0 for more details.

thanks!

U need to buy before current data expire. StarHub follow the timing that you activate.

Thanks :), just managed to locate the information from SH FAQ.

So if I departure on 1 Aug 6am and I purchase 2x "1gb for 3 days" it should expire at 7 Aug 6am, correct?
