Dear Experts, need some desperate feed back here.

From what i've heard ( from around the interwebs):

1. Database is more on software , and Network is more on IT right?

2. Database has average higher pay than IT (Fresh grad-compSci).

3. Network is easier to get into (Fresh grad-compSci).

4. Both have a lot of free time and low stress vs other industries on senior position.

5. Network has more job openings (Fresh grad-compSci).

6. Future of networking is going down, and future of database is getting better.

7. Both, unlike software developers/architects, are unlikely to get shipped out overseas, and taken over by Foreign talents...right?? (i hope...)

Thank YOU!!!:)

4. Both have a lot of free time and low stress vs other industries on senior position.

You're still young and looking for a job with a lot of free time?
Most likely you also want high salary right?

Ask yourself, if you have a business do you want your employees to work like a bunch of lazy people?

Wake up man!!
You have to work your ass up.
Network or database, they can give you high paying job if you keep yourself busy with new knowledge.

1. Database is more on software , and Network is more on IT right?
>> Both are IT in different aspects

2. Database has average higher pay than IT (Fresh grad-compSci).
>> No such thing. You are not even specialise in any of these 2, so stop thinking in this manner.

3. Network is easier to get into (Fresh grad-compSci).
>> Neither are easy subject, both are difficult in their own ways

4. Both have a lot of free time and low stress vs other industries on senior position.
>> You are not suitable for an IT job if that's your mentality, you are better off working as a security guard, you may "probably" have less stress.

5. Network has more job openings (Fresh grad-compSci).
>> No such thing. You are not even specialise in any of these 2, so stop thinking in this manner.

6. Future of networking is going down, and future of database is getting better.
>> Yes you are right (my ...) Networking is just starting to get really really complicated with Software Defined Networking, and the real on going of IPv6.

7. Both, unlike software developers/architects, are unlikely to get shipped out overseas, and taken over by Foreign talents...right?? (i hope...)
>> If you truly believe in (4), you don't need to be in the IT line to get overrun by FT. You will be overrun by anyone.

Sorry that I'm being very vague here, because I'm new and really need more info.
>> You are not only vague, you don't even have the right attitude to start with. So please start with a right attitude and then we can start scratching the surface.

I think you need to change your mindset fundamentally.

For consideration, in IT line, everything keep evolve and evolve and evolve....not matter what you have now, no matter where you start, it will be nothing in 1 year, or maybe 6 months.

Also, we are famous for Pau Ka Liao (lol), so no matter which side you take, be prepare for additional - unseen task (lol)

software is programming. IT has wide range. Network is one of them.

2. Database has average higher pay than IT (Fresh grad-compSci).
Higher salary and with higher stress threshold.

3. Network is easier to get into (Fresh grad-compSci).
Nope. Unless you are supporting network in term of IT Support.

4. Both have a lot of free time and low stress vs other industries on senior position.
Programming will stress you out.

5. Network has more job openings (Fresh grad-compSci).
Both have equal job openings. It depend on how you search and your contacts.

6. Future of networking is going down, and future of database is getting better.
Neither. Programming and networking both require constant upgrade. Network can never be down. If down, say bye bye to your internet. Database is always about programming. Only better is how fast you can solve it.

7. Both, unlike software developers/architects, are unlikely to get shipped out overseas, and taken over by Foreign talents...right?? (i hope...)
Both are filled with FT.
