Hi,
I'm hiring transport for a day trip in Taipei. Our group includes young and old people.
Which place do you recommend for a day trip? Is Yehliu geopark, or Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf a better choice? Or other better places?
Thanks.

Depends if you like nature or not.

Tamshui is famous for its iron eggs, local foods, night market, bridge and the fisherman's wharf. They make a pleasant excursion in a man-made environment. Tamsui is accessible via MRT (head north on the shilin line), so you don't need a car unless you have invalids in your group.

Yeliu's rock formations, crashing waves and awesome seascape make for a amazing scenic trip. Definitely for those who love scenic views. But be warned: when I was there, Yeliu was overrun with PRC tourists who were loud, rather rude, prone to crowding around attractions(eg, the queen's head) and breaking regulations (eg, climbing on rocks and going beyond safety limits. Utterly annoying).

To me, Yeliu was much more impressive, while Tamsui was pleasant. It's also hard to compare the 2 since they are so different. There are always people who dun care for nature and prefer easy access to man-made comforts (restaurants, air-con, shelter, etc), in which case they will prefer Tamsui.

PS: if you have a car, I think it's possible to do both in 1 day. Drive to Yeliu in the morning, spend 2-3 hours there (the park is not very big), then drive back to Tamsui for the afternoon till night.

I've just came back from Taiwan.

Since you are hiring a 1 day transportation, you can actually go to both places and i would recommend you to go Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf around sun-set timing. The view is really spectacular. Wake up early in the morning to go Yehliu then after which, head off to Fisherman's Wharf.

Your group consists of young children and older folks, it's really a pleasant place to walk and once you are there, the wind, the breeze, the sky and the view will ease everything away.

After the sun has set, the sky is really awesome with spectrum of colors.
