sold OCBC last year
currently have no bank stocks
however I have a ILP maturing this year and will get a big lum sum
probably will put the $$ into the 3 local banks
if their PE is below 12 times (late November)

ILP make money already be thankful. i know of so many ppl who buy ILP, even after 10 yrs, underwater. i notice alot of (unethical?) agents/personal bankers sell ILPs as sure make money after 10 yrs.

US banks.. all cannot touch one... so many kanna fine by SEC

dunnoe how deep the black hole is... and it will eat into their NAV

US market, can find many banks selling below book value somemore, u go whack lor

good luck!

dun forget, US got 30% dividends tax... not suited for buy and hold investors.... only good for short term traders

long term investors, invest in SG still better la

altho in Singapore, a lot ppl feel that foreign banks more atas, but imo, investing in local banks safer.

take a look at SCB and Citi. SCB lao sai until how jialat. Citi also facing tough times ahead.

sometimes chio bu RM can also be ok la.

as for relatives or not, it's a tricky issue. if the relative is new to the industry, he/she may not have the capability or the foresight to see further.

also, if things go south....can be very messy. rather not do biz within the family. just my own opinion. :)

ya true

relatives if those young ones, I just ignore... even very close friends... cause many come in sell insurance first 1-2 find friends and relatives after that they dry liao and quit the industry... damn sianz

my aunty work at NTUC for over 20 years le, very experienced so I give her all my business instead

I think most important when using an agent, be it a broker, property agent or insurance agent

1) must know that person character well over many years, make sure its a honest person
2) that person must be experienced, at least 5 years or more (so u know that he/she can service u long term, not hit and run type)

cheers
