Hi Moderators of Hardwarezone.com.

I've been lurking around the Hardwarezone forum for some time, and I read it mostly for IT related news and entertainment and current affairs.

However there has been something urgent regarding your forum of late, which I need to bring to your attention, and for which I have decided to create this account.

I have been looking around this particular section of Hardwarezone called Eat-Drink-Man-Woman and have found many disturbing comments regarding race and religion being posted up in just about every other thread. Some of the language used is strong and does come across as offensive and threathening.

I understand that the forum has a report function for each post made by everyone. But it may seem people don't know about it, or don't seem to bother reporting troublemakers, looking at the number of such posts and threads still up, and the culprits not stopping at all.

Above all, I hope it's also not because you moderators are too busy as well. I understand you people are moderating only voluntarily and at your own time, and that you can't be around the Hardwarezone 24 hours a day.

But it is my wish that you do take extra attention over what has been posted here. This is a public forum (and one linked to SPH) where non-members can see what has been written in just about every post.

If need be, I could provide you with links of individual offending posts, but given that they are in just about every other thread I shouldn't think it would be too hard for the moderators to deal with them.

Thank you very much, for taking the time to read this, and I hope this forum would become the better for it.

Dear Member,

Thank you for expressing your sentiments. We do not condone discrimination in HardwareZone of any kind, neither do we accept pejorative comments in this forum.

However, we seek your kind understanding that given the volume of comments in the forum; we are unable to actively police thread by thread weeding out comments or the members who post them.

This is a community-moderated forum; moderators and administrators are primarily alerted to content that require moderating when a member makes a report.

Bearing these in mind, we will greatly appreciate your providing these links- be it in this thread or via private messaging to this account.

Dear Forum Admin,

I'm not sure what you did for the earlier thread I pointed out to you in the PM. If you took down the thread and punished the people involved, I applaud you for it.

But it would seem that either people don't learn, or that they take the rules here for cheap.

Instead of PM-ing you once again. I have decided to put this up here for everyone in Hardwarezone to see what is going on. It is certainly up to you moderators to look into this and deal with it accordinglly. Your rules for the forum are here for good reason.

I do not put this up to pressure you moderators into giving bans or the like for the culprits, but I feel harsh punishment should be enough to send a message to people here.

Thank you.

edit: have taken out the html in the link since I don't have sufficient privileges.
