Debit card with Annual Fee

Only UOB debit card have annual fee. The other 2 local banks debit card does not have annual fee.

Does anyone know if UOB still issue ATM-only card? Its funny that the debit is issue for a saving account meant to encourage saving but charge annual fee unless spending on the debit card. Makes no sense.

You can try contacting UOB hotline and ask if you can get an atm card instead as you find it a hassle to request for af waiver

UOB still offers basic ATM cards. There's no need to call or visit a branch to get one. The application form is available here. Just fill it out and pop it in the mail.

Alternatively, most of UOB's debit cards have no annual fee when you make 12 or more Visa/Mastercard charges. If for example you have a streaming service subscription (Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+) and use your UOB debit card to pay that monthly subscription then that should be enough.

First 3 years fee is waived. Normal account they also give one debit card
I must remember to close the account and the card before 3 years is up.
Few years ago, my debit card kena fraudulent US$ transactions, likely their database got leak out as I never use it online, small amt they refund.

Learn how to charge 12 times, not spend, if you want the card which has benefits if useful to you. Else terminate the card, no need atm card too, just withdraw from POSB which has most atms. I only withdraw from this bank, all other banks for online to earn interest only. Live more, bank less.

The reason I open the UOB Uniplus was precisely for their ATM. Need to diversify ATM becuz POSB always super long queue! Else I will not even open any UOB savings account.

I open uniplus to make money from UOB Last year 88, this year 28, still thinking should I close soon when there is no q at the bank?
I go cashless, seldom need to withdraw cash, I also know timing and where to withdraw with no ques!

Can I check are you single? I need ATM to press monies out for my daughter allowance as they are still using cash in school canteen. Now school going cashless with posb buddy etc but not all school participate. So my use case is this.

Ya UOB debit cards mostly have fees but can call to waive.
But the problem is the annual fee will get quietly added to your bill, no notifications alerts anything. Then if missed it or forget to call and waive they eat free money.

Isn’t that the same for all other AF? So is nothing special what.

the onus is on the account holder to ask for waiver.

it’s inaccurate to say they eat. Because if you go ask for waiver they either waive it and you keep it or you cancel and they refund if they don’t waive it.

Thanks. I will explore the ATM only option. My UOB acct was to save up for rainy days, not a everyday account. Hence a debit is redundant and the waiver lapse after 3 years. Troublesome to remember the waiver lapse after 3 years. Prefer ATM, no annual fee, no hassle.

Not sure if their digital token setup can work with ATM card onot.

The problem it seem is default they give debit card as I open Uniplus they give me and told me the debit card act as ATM too. Wonder if they got a pure ATM only card or not. You go try and ask and post here if they have a pure ATM card or not. Thanks in advance.

3 years waiver, just cancel and reapply when the 3 years are up. It’s a debit card, there’s no impact to anything.

That one need to check with UOB their timeframe. Also need to factor in the snail mail in getting the application from there. Which may not necessarily reach also
