DeepCool's Liquid Cooled PSU

During our visit in DeepCool's suite in CES we noticed a prototype liquid-cooled PSU. There were some attempts in the past to build liquid-cooled PSUs (eg, the Koolance PSU-1200ATX-12S), but none of them was successful because the PSUs were very expensive, bulky and didn't offer good enough performance. This, however, didn't stop DeepCool from revisiting the whole liquid-cooled PSU idea. The OEM behind the prototype is CWT, which also built the aforementioned Koolance PSU.

According to DeepCool, its liquid-cooled PSU will be ready in 4-5 months, because they are still evaluating its performance and operation in general. As you can see from the provided photos, the unit has a thick aluminum case that plays a significant role in its cooling. This PSU also features a fully modular cabling design, and on top of that, it will have LED lighting. DeepCool's PR told us that they will release more than one model, with most likely 650 W and 750 W capacities, and the efficiency certification will be 80 PLUS Gold (although they are also considering upgrading it to 80 PLUS Platinum). The price for the 650 W model will be around $200, which is on the high side, but if they manage to make this PSU whisper quiet even at full load operation and reliable at the same time, then we believe that it will definitely be worthy of this stiff price tag.

Sometimes I wonder whether those engineers have forgotten about liquids and electricity dun mix. O ring and gasket failures are can wear out in 2-3 years. Now they bring the liquid to the psu waiting for fireworks?

Gold & Platinum 80+ rating PSU generates far much lesser heat and don't requires fan cooling till certain thermal limit.
