Hi,

im not sure if i post in the correct section, im getting keys to my house soon. Its a new place and my 1st home. I do not know anything about house defect inspection and wondering if i should just hire experts to help me check. Right now im looking at absolute inspection pte ltd. Any one hired them before got any reviews? so far from facebook all the reviews are worth it.

Those that charged based on defects found will find a lot more but sometimes what they find are things that will be gone when you do your own reno. If you have an ID they will usually check with you. So in my experience there’s no need to do so.

Suggest to just do your own and identify what you're not happy with. Bring a coin to tap and check for hollow tiles, some blue tape, measuring tape.

Major ones should be easy to spot. Minor ones you'll have to decide whether it's worthwhile to get developer to fix or your own contractor, especially if it delays your timeline to move in or going to renovate that area anyways.

Engaged before, they are the most expensive out of the lot.

It depends on what you are after, if your HDB have tiles, can consider engaging.
If your house is totally empty, the only thing you really need to check is the water flow for the toilet.

If you are planning to engage ID, a lot of defects won't really matter since you will be painting over / laying tiles etc.

I have used a few before, for me, even after their defects, i manage to spot even more, but the main ones like hollow tiles / toilet water flow etc would be better with their expertise if you are not sure on how to check.

You can DIY by buying those blue sticker and pasting on your own.
