I am new here and let me introduce a little about myself.

I graduated from RP with a Diploma In Information Technology with a low GPA of 2.67. In the army right now, I would ORD in September 2016 at age of 22.

I am very sorry to say that I do not have any interest in the Diploma that I've took and my interest only lies in Accountancy since I took Principles of Accounts in secondary school.(Yes I really regret taking a course I didn't like and feels that I've wasted 3 years)

I am in a big dilemma now of the future path that I am going to take. I know that I would need at least a Degree in Accountancy for me to land in a job in finance sector as an Accountant.

I am going to try to register for a place in SMU/SIT/RMIT/UOL.(Yes I know that my vhances of getting into SMU/SIT is near to 0 but my friends told me to just try)

At the same time, I got introduced to ACCA and I went on to research on it and found it to be quite popular in the market.

Now I do not know whether I should take the Foundation Certification in ACCA before I start my University or should I wait to complete my University before I jump straight to the Professional Certification in ACCA.(& it is actually quite depressing to see my friends that graduated from ITE/MDIS to have started working at age of 21/22 while I am only going to be able to work only at 26/27 after having my degree. It makes me feels that I am losing out to them till some extend I even have a little urge to just start working straight after I ORD.)

My career goals down the road would be getting into a senior position in either as an Accountant or Auditor earning around at lrast $12k/month.(At the same time afraid that with RMIT/UOL Certification I can't go far, Not thay I look down on this University but just afraid companies look down on us with the cert from those University)

I would like more information about degree & ACCA stuffs and hope you guys can provide me with more information!

You can find the transitional arrangements for ACCA graduates to attain Chartered Accountants of Singapore.

If you are unable to enter any of the autonomous uni's accountancy degree or UniSIM Full-time Accountancy, you can try UniSIM Part-time Accountancy. You will get exemption from SQP foundation and go straight into SQP professional program.

If you can't get into any singapore accountancy degrees, then any recognised 3 year degree that interest you will do. You will go through SQP foundation then professional program.

The new uni like SIT & UniSIM uses holistic criteria to assess you. Since you are weak in your GPA, do your best to strengthen other factors.
- Find any accounts assistant contract/temp/part-time job.
- Join a VWO/NGO or grassroots and aim for a treasurer/auditor position.
- Get recommendation letters from the management of the above.
- Get some paper qualifications on accountancy may help to show you have prior knowledge, eg. acca, cat, aca.

Lastly, do your best to overcome the peer and age pressure, those are useless distractions. Go at your own pace. :s22::s22::s22:

Start doing ACCA while in army.

You can consider working part-time while studying for ACCA. It's not that bad to gain some experience.

So you are telling me I should get Foundation Certification ASAP while I am in NS, and work after I ORD? What about degree? I truly agree that experience is still the best proof to show to employers but am afraid that without a degree my salary would actually be alot lesser and wont be able to hold a high position in the future.

Can I actually know what are these things in Accountancy?

- Chartered Accountany Of Singapore
- Singapore QP(Foundation/Professional)

Are they required to be an accountant in singapore??

I will definitely research on them more when I got home from army during the weekend but I would like to roughly know what is it about for now. Would be good if someone can actually give me some ideas on these stuffs!
