Delivery at KKH

Hi. Wife is 6 months into her pregnancy.

Was wondering if anyone could share more details on like cost and procedures for selection of wards / delivery.

We selected gynae from start, so assumed we are considered private.


1 - When do they start to get you to decide on what type of wards?

2- What's the upfront deposit needed?

3- Private meaning we can only opt for A1 & B1?


Would be great to hear from someone with recent delivery. Thanks in advance!

in general, the lower the ward, the more is the subidy.

i am not sure about private means A1 or B1, probably it is more easier to call and ask.

for my 2 kids, i went to KKH as a public patients (means cannot choose doctor).

during labor, we only need to pay a few hundred dollars deposit. depending on the complication of the labour, KKH actually refund some of the bills due to subsidy (my wife is natural labour).

another cost saving tip is always choose the lowest ward possible, the lowest ward is always crowded and hence they usually will upgrade you to a better ward (without extra charges).

Believed you alr are on private rate already, since you selected doctor. Wards choose upon delivery IIRC, unsubsidized is B1 or A wards.

I dont remember paying upfront deposit. but settle payment during discharge.

actually you should make use of their financial counselling where they will share the complete picture with you. including unforeseen circumstances NICU and etc. Suggest to request for them during your next visit.
