i just bought inspiron13 from courts, it come witn vista home premium 32bit, is there anyway to make it into win7 home premium 64bit ? from dell site, seems can only upgrade to win7 32bit...

"500gb hd, P8700 2.53ghz, free 1 copy of office2007 home" - price $1259, this is cheaper than dell website, so i bought, then now realise no win7 64bit...

another thing i do not have a external dvd player to run the upgrade... sian ah :s31:

any advice is welcomed

guys,

couple of questions. i realised dell has lousy support service, is that correct to any extend? especially when they do not offer service on sunday for inspiron.

Description Provider Start Date End Date Days Left
POW (Parts only Warranty) DELL 7/8/2009 7/8/2010 215
COMPLETECOVER COVERAGE PROGRAMME DELL 7/8/2007 7/8/2010 215
PLUS TECHNICAL PHONE SUPPORT DELL 7/8/2007 7/8/2010 215
NBD (Next Business Day on-site) DELL 7/8/2009 7/8/2010 215

for me to have these warranties, will my laptop be covered if the unit is inoperative due to accidental water spillage? i think it will be cause of complete cover but how long will it take for them to service and blah blah? i need the laptop pretty urgent.

would like to hear more about their servicing, thanks.

If you purchase the most expensive Insurance Package such as Dell Care Premium or Complete Cover Accidental Damage Protection, Dell will change all faulty parts on a 1 to 1 exchange policy on the next business day even if you purposely break your LCD screen, except faulty hard disk drive, and faulty battery due to prolonged usage. But of course, don't tell Dell you purposely break the LCD screen.

the cd key works irregardless whether u r using it for 32bit or 64bit OS, if dell provides you with 32bit OS and you prefer 64bit of the SAME OS, simply download the 64bit OS from the net and use your legit cd key to install.

you can easily install Win 7 or for that matter any OS easily from USB thumdrive or harddrive, no optical drive needed, google for more info, lots of complete guides around the net.

Thought of getting Vostro V13, SU7300 CPU with 4GB instead of a netbook for traveling. Would like to hear Dell user opinion.

Currently own XPS M1330 (almost 3yrs old)

hey guys, i just ordered an alienware m15x but I didnt pick the 3 years completecover or dell care premium, i just stuck with the basic 1 year completecover.

roughly how much will it be if i extended the warranty now or mid-way throughout the year?

and is the warranty for alienware similar to those inspirons and XPS?

Thanks in advance :) i'd rather ask you guys than call the crappy dell customer support

Windows 7 on Vostro 1400

I've checked that the Vostro 1400 doesn't have Windows 7 drivers. On the web, some people succesfully installed windows 7 on their 1400. I'm sure it will install, but the question is, did they get all the necessary drivers to work?
any bros here tried to upgrade their Vostro 1400 to Windows 7 ? was it worth the upgrade, in terms of windows performance improvement ?

I'm thinking of upgrading because Vostro 1400 on Vista is slow. I'm hoping that Windows 7 will be much faster.
