i'm using pro... pro ed gt more advance networking rite lyk ISS, ODBC... most student studying IT would need xp pro.. mine is xp home initially but free upgrade to xp pro... coz nyp gt agreement wif ms so tt IT student can dl for free...

Planning to buy Inspiron 710m

I'm planning to buy Inspiron 710m before 27 Nov - now that there is $400 cash off Sitex offer.

Just a few questions :
1. Should I upgrade the processor or the SDRAM in order to get better (or faster) performance? Upgrading to 1GB SDRAM will cost $200 more (quite steep)

2. Should I buy an extra 4-cell battery since I'm going to get the 8-cell one? What is the difference in battery life between the two?

3. Should I even bother to buy a laptop case (nylon or leather) from Dell?

4. Should I upgrade the wireless card to the 2915 one? What's the difference between 2915 and 2200? (sorry asking because first time buying wireless stuff)

Would appreciate your advice. Thanks!

Yeah!! checked the website and found out the prices dropped.


Deciding between the 4 models, Inspiron 9300, 630, 710, 6000

But among the 4, found out that the 630's processor is the best

Am I correct to say that it's cheaper to skip the Dell ram upgrades and install your own SLS-bought RAM? (StorageStudio pricelist shows 1gb DDRII @ $235, Sitex maybe even cheaper).
Won't void the warranty, right?

xp professional you can log into domain. May be be necessary for some networks.

Basic does not have powerpoint and access.

As for outlook express, you can download it.

Cheaper to get your own. Warranty no problems.

2915ABG supports 802.11a networks too. But you won't see them often in Singapore, so don't bother with it.

I actually never open mine....but my frenz got one of this as well....give realli good protection in my opinion...but quite heavy lor....

Yea, but that's the max my notebook can go.. hope future notebook can increase its max capacity to 4GB... 2GB is my basic requirement for my notebook now... looking towards 4GB limit ones... then can totally disable the windows swapfile for good...
