lousy haha. should be quite easy. I have opened a few laptops with ram slots under the keyboards. So far no problems. Should be documented graphically in the manual.

I tried to swop 2 "Kingstons" Rams (128 & 513) from my Dell Inspiron 4100 with my Dell Inspiron 4150's "Inspiron" 256ram. upon opening up then I discovered that could not be swopped as it is of a different model. Sianzz....btw, how do we know the max ram a laptop can take?
it should be stated in the manual the max amount of ram that can be accepted.

bro.. save the trouble of reformatting. just uninstalling useless program n disable the resident program tht u dont need to run. why not run it with the original win xp home. why need win xp pro? bought already the original xp pro huh? only diff is the networking part.

but if u die die want to reformat. then goes as normal. put in ur bootable win xp cd. follows the instruction.all the drivers needed in your CDs package tht come in the box. if u want updated driver then goes to the dell website to download. Dell CD MEDIA EXPERIENCE if u want to use the Dell Media Control Button.

hope tht helps.

Did u also delete the hidden dignostic partition as well? For me, I use PartitionMagic to delete/reformat my hd. Only installed the OS and the necessary drivers. Most of the s/w from DELL just take up hd space.

Questions to those who have 630m (or other models with integrated Intel GMA 900)... Anyone know how to change the amount of RAM allocated as shared memory for graphics? I have 1GB RAM and would like to allocate more (wonder if that will make any visible difference). Checked the BIOS and graphics advanced properties but don't see any option.

Also, is it possible to have the laptop's LCD and external monitor have different resolutions when BOTH are ON at the same time? (I know if I turn off the laptop's LCD, I can set the external monitor to higher res.)

Thanks.

Install Linux OS

Any i9300 owner who has a Linux OS installed on this machine? I tried and installation goes without any problem. The only headache is I can't get it to go online with my router. The drivers on the DELL CD are for WinXP only.

Anyone can help?
