Need help here

Hi, I'm using a Dell Inspiron 6400. I reinstall my Windows and during the process I deleted all the partitions on the HDD. And I can't reinstall my Dell Media Direct. Can anyone help?

While you are installing the Windows XP operating system, you must partition the hard drive so that 2048 MB of space is left unpartitioned and reserved for Dell MediaDirect. To do this you will need to calculate the partition size in megabytes (MB) by deducting 2048 from the total available space in MB on the hard drive.

You can create a maximum of three partitions in addition to the unpartitioned space reserved for Dell MediaDirect.

Rather glitchy network port
Thanks for the review. What sort of problems are you getting with the network port? Is that a sw/driver problem or hw problem?

wah... thanks for the information, guys. Anyway, why some guide says need 1038MB of free space, while some others says 2048MB?

I've tried the methods in the reinstallation guide, but it says it's done when the process is around 63%. And after I restart, the partition becomes unknown partition. Anyone ever encounter this problem? Any solution? Thanks

Dell XPS m1210

Well....in this case. It's more on the hardware problem in the aspects of the network port.

Does the DELL notebook comes with carrying bags nowadays? I've been assigned a brand new DELL 640m, but there's now bag in the box.

for those who own xps 1210, is the 12.1 tad too small for word processing purposes? Cos i was thinking between 1210 and 640m, and wondering my vision is affected.

i think 640m better, cos 12.1 inches a bit tad too small, cos i will be doing assignments...

640m is widescreen arh?

=) my 640m is fine... nopz, didnt get the 3yrs cover... its 14.1" lcd screen, 1GB Ram, 80GB HDD, DVD +/- RW, intel intergated graphics. $1500++ i run it for hours, mmm... keep its 'coolness'. Battery fully charged will show 5hrs59mins... :) if nv run too many programs, jus do typing and simple web serving, can last for abt 4-5hrs. :)

the problem with 6400 is that when i saw the actual thing, i was like omg its super huge, machiam like a desktop. But if size isnt a matter for u then i guessed its ok. Dell sales pple, when is the next big sale for 640m??

i actually order 6400... but then too big for my lappy bag, so i called Dell to change my order to 640m (b4 i receive my laptop), they got no conplaints and was willing to do the change with no extra charges except pay the price diff. :) Now Dell, like always switch between free 1GB Ram or DVD Burner during promotins then over the weekends add in 80GB HDD. so depends on wat u wan loh... :)
