S = mostly IPS but glossy panel and cannot adjust height.

U = IPS matte panel can adjust height. 5 years warranty.

P = IPS matte panel can adjust height but outlook of the monitor look cheapo compare to U series.

I tried multiple sockets, even switching between HDMI and DP cables, ports but still the same problem. Yes, I think it's time to change, just nice when the warranty is just over.

Might be hunting another U series. Your analogy quite deep lol

So from your reply, I can tell that you prefer matte screens over glossy screens. So... viewing comfort over image quality (glossy screens tend to be sharper and have more vibrant colours)? And true, it's kinda a deal breaker for me when the monitor can't be adjusted (height, pivot, rotate, tilt) especially when I'm looking to get a dual monitor set-up... Currently owned the S2316H and because its height isn't adjustable, I need to get a taller table and thus sacrificed typing comfort.

P2319H seems to be the only one I found that can adjust height.

Went to Challenger Bugis and Sim Lim to check out the monitors earlier.. I personally find that the U2419H and S2319H has better colours and the white on P2319H carries some red/pinkish, especially the one at Challenger when compared to the U and S series. I'm not sure if it's defect or anything. When I ask most of the salespersons about which monitor I should get for my needs, most of that recommended the SE2417H (trying to upsell to SE2717H, 27" IPS) or LG monitors. I actually got the chance to get my hands on a U2419H in Sim Lim (watching 1080p movies and "4K" trailers) and I enjoyed the experience very much. Probably gonna save up more to get 2 U2419Hs for my dual monitor setup.

Anyways, what's the difference between the U2417H (older model) and the U2419H (new)

I think the technical specs also look very similar based on Dell's website.
However, there's between $50-$100 difference in price.

I just got the U2417H recently rather than U2419H as it was $60 more on Lazada.

May I know how much you paid for?

Been using U series for close to a decade, from 2407WFP, U2410, U2414H to current U3415W as my requirements are more colour accuracy than gaming.

At work, we purchase the P series for IPS panels and similar stands to U series but lesser connectivity options.

viewing at showroom is inaccurate. they turn up saturation and brightness to make them look better.

gloss is a filter, typically used to mask panel imperfections especially cheap one, like backlight bleeding, panel uniformity, poorer colour reproduction.

of course the average consumer wouldn't know, hence the term "consumer features".

all things being equal, if 2 exact panels one gloss one matt were calibrated, they'll look exactly the same, with the glossy one having additional(annoying) reflections.

Thus, I became a joker playing around with the monitor settings after telling the salesperson that I'm just looking around HAHAHA

Cool, it seems that everyone agree that the U series is top-notch and worth the money... I think I will be getting 2 of the U2417H (just checked the prices for U2419H, it is so expensive.. Hopefully they are of the same quality).. Might wait for SITEX or 12.12 Sales to get them ..
