Hi, does pc themes allow you to open up the monitor and test for bp/dp on the spot before paying?

I have only purchased a samsung recently from funan challenger and they allowed me to test for bp/dp after paying up, offering a 1-1 exchange if there were bp/dp.

I saw dell was selling it for 309, why is pc themes only selling at 255? is it because its only 1year warranty?

Got a question.. Thinking of buying it off PCT but what should I look out for in a monitor? Dead pixels and all? Do they allow you to check for dead pixels and stuff? Other than dead pixels what else should I look out for?

I didn't bother asking them whether I can test on the spot, but Dell has premium panel garantee anyway, just a single bright pixel and they will come down to your house to do an exchange. Doesn't cover dead pixel though.
Help Me Choose: Warranty and Service | Dell Singapore

$309 is their online price. Dell funan shop sell for $279 I believe. PCT sells for $255, still the same 3 years warranty. Buying from Dell got free delivery though, so that's where the price difference is.

As above. :)

got a u2312hm today and i am pleased with the screen. abit grainy looking but can easily get used to it with time as i just got off a glossy screen on my laptop. got it from cybermind @269. they allowed me to check for bp/dp on the spot after paying up, offering a 1-1exchange if there were any.

wanted to get it from challenger@funan but they were out of stock.

love how the stand can be adjusted, tilt rotate and height adjustments.

minor backlight bleed on bottom right hand corner, very minor.

love the screen overall.

I'm using the calibrated settings suggested by this site : Dell U2312HM Review

However, I set contrast at 66 instead of 75, as i find it a bit too glaring for me.

There's another site with calibrated settings : Dell U2312HM review - FlatpanelsHD, but as some people have pointed out, I get a yellowish tinge with that, so experiment and find out which one you like best.

Just to share about my experience with new dell u2312hm ips led monitor so that others who are considering this monitor will lower their expectations before they buy.
I am quite disappointed with it and I think it isn't that great as various reviews mentioned. It seems to have non uniform color on white backgnd and color tint problems.

This is also my first ips panel I get from dell and after reading reviews I got the dell monitor (manufactured nov 2011, rev 02) in early Jan 2012 and I test it on deadpixel tester program to check for dead pixel (running thro solid RBG colors) and realised on a white backgnd , the white color are not uniform at all, I get pinkish tint presence on my right half of the screen and abit more duller white on my left half of my screen.
(I connect the screen to my new selfbuilt system and a new graphic card 560ti and connect via dvi to dvi and also try to connect the screen to my laptop using vga cable, color tinting problem still persists so there isn't anything wrong with my system graphic card)

I called Dell for replacement since it is under their premium 3 years replacement and to make the story shorter, I had replaced it three times (the replacement screen seem worse than the previous screen eg having yellow tints and duller, shades of grey underlying color on my white backgnd and finally I had to complaint and make noise to the customer service for the third replacement to come and it arrived recently (it is brand new from dell factory, indicated as manufactured in dec 2011, rev 02).

However, this 3rd replacement still have pink tint issues and other issues see pics taken using a canon digicam:

Firstly guys, u can see that bottom left and right of screen is not welllitted showing obvious dark grey shaded spots.
Secondly U can see on left hand side, there pinkish tint on the screen and thirdly top right corner, u can see there 's greyish (shadowish) spots at top right hand corners and it is a large patch.

In fact, have called and complainted to the customer service agent yesterday since previous 4 customer service agents keep telling me no1 else has such problem with this model and also emailed him the issue along with the pictures taken. He checked and tell me that the technical side say and confirmed that it is normal and not possible to get uniform white and for dell monitors either u get more or less of the problems like pink, yellow, brown tints. He told me that if I want I can still ask for 1 last replacement with no refund and if the screen still have such issue den have to live with it , otherwise they can do me a full refund since the screen can't live up to my expectations.
The customer service agent from dell finally admitted that such problem exists and tell me off by saying not possible to get any monitor with uniform white screen and I can take the refund and get other brands(bad customer retention in this case) but seriously, I wasn't expecting perfect white but at least no such tints problem.

Guys, Can I also kindly check with u all, if u all have such tinting issues when u view solid uniform white backgnd while looking straight at the centre of white screen. I can't be having such bad luck encountering problems with the 3 replacements sets.

hope u all can also give yr honest views as I am also sick of asking for replacement and only to get more disappointments.
Thank you.

Personally, I didn't buy the monitor to test for faults that are otherwise undetectable during normal usage. I buy coz it is decently price with wider angle views as it is IPS.

... that's my honest review.

To be fair for dell, what you are demanding is bit extreme and surprised that they already exchanged it 3 times for you which is well beyond my expectation and willing to give you refund too.
Just for a comparison, all those, especially lcd and led tvs costing $$$$ have terrible panels which I can pick the faults easily.
I own a 2311h and very happy with it and sure i would find the faults if i look for them.

Hmmm actually didnt really want to find fault with it just that while checking for dead pixel(usually when u buy new gadgets esp lcd devices must check first for any defect mah)
The Tinted colour issues are there when I was looking straight at the screen(siting in the centre of the screen) and didnt purposely check at specific angles for such tinting. lol

As such, I noticed the tinting color especially when u work with Microsoft word (cos of white backgnd) or go google or website with more white backgnd den u get to see shades of pink on left screen (as seen in above links).
Eg currently this page on the hardwarezone forum, the grey to my left is pinkish tinted grey and the right hand side is grey,

just wondering if u guys get such tinting issue or experience similar symptons with u2312hm ?

yea dell side they are nice to do that cos it is also part of their 3 years premium panel exchange policy and to give ya a full refund within 30 days if not satisfied with the product but I really like the specs of u2312 and the design ergonomics with height adjustment.
Just wonder if u all faced such tinting issues with this 2312hm since no1 mentioned abt the problem when I read other forums. ppl only mentioned abt tinting problems with dell u2410 lcd and the lastest dell u2412 led. I suspect it could be some manufacturing defects with the panel that they are using.

Hi All, I just got this monitor this afternoon. Installed it at night. The default screen white color is "warm white". As my notebook graphics is a Geforce 105m, I manage to tune it an ideal white. My blue hue is adjusted to 75% while the other 2 hues are about 80-85%. I hope this helps for some members here :)

I think you need to calibrate the monitor. Different graphic cards will give different result on the screen.

How to register the monitor for warranty? It seems that I don't have the Service Tag Number and thus cannot register ?? Or do I just need to keep the invoice? Need help here. Thanks.
BTW I got mine at SLS shop.

Not too sure abt this cos I got it from dell online shop and it is autoregistered by dell for my case. As for the service tag number I believe it is the serial number found on the back of yr panel starting with cn-oxp3wk- something.

hmmm may I know what is yr screen manufactured date and rev, cobi?
Btw have u seen any tinting issues on the screen when u look at solid white backgnd, meaning any patches of pinkish tone on certain parts or part of screen having yellowish patches as seen in my case (pls see my post on page 9 with links to the pics posted) ?

u can adjust yr screen to the brightest or by default 75 for brightness and contrast and check carefully.
(For my case, my color tinting issue wont go away even if I calibrate the screen, I need to see if I need to get my place replaced again if this is not common for the rest who currently using u2312, hope the rest of you can kindly advise on this)

Recently also read that dell u2412 also having tinting issue( which was released together with u2312 just that it bigger and aspect ratio of 16:10),
so was wondering if u guys have any color tints prob with u2312hm instead when looking straight at the screen from centre so far? any uneven color patches on pure white backgnd screen?

^ you should have bought the $600 dollar 24incher with "factory calibrated setting"

the slight pink tint only noticeable during afternoon when I look at outside window then turn back indoor to look at google's white background
no problem at all for normal usage
