2412M is 8ms compared to 2410 which is 6ms. 2412M also supports less colors, and lower gamut from what I've read.

Not a major concern for an entry level 24 inch IPS panel for amateurs users...at least it doesn't bother me much.

Professionals users might stick with U2410 or go for the 27" model instead.

Is this a LED back-lit or edge-lit? Seeing the thickness, I'm hoping it's direct back-lit which is a good thing in my book.

Edit:

Found some info on TFT Central ( http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news_archive/24.htm#dell_u2412m_info )
Panel is LM240WU8-SLA2 ( http://www.msc-ge.com/download/displays/dabla_allg/lm240wu8-sla2.pdf )

since i have bought many dell monitors over the years, i have tracked online prices versus pc/it show prices. Show price has never been better than online price, at best equals it.

I'm considering to buy too...but still have 2 concerns too...

1) noticeable difference between my 2007WFP (S-IPS) vs 2412UM (e-IPS)
2) 2412UM led is direct lit or edge lit

The monitor is amazing! No dead pixels. 16:10 is really worth it. BTW I'm upgrading from a Viewsonic 24" 16:9 model. So the difference is very much there.

just noticed this new monitor. verrrrrry nice. who wants to buy my u2311h? :s13:

I gotten my monitor even before U2311H is out. When I saw U2311H ... I thought ... "heck care lah ... for IPS .... just change and downgrade by 1 inch".

Then now got U2412M ..... e-IPS and 16:10. Tempting .... but I guess I am at where I was. So decided to keep the $$ till say 1yrs or even 2yrs later. Maybe by then .... can get 2 x U2711H liao @ say $500 each?
