Yeah cannot daisy chain stably when used in surround/eyefinity.. Plug the monitors directly to each port on the GPU with adapters where necessary..
Now current Maxwell cards have 3 displayports, shouldn't be an issue if the user is using GTX 970/980/Titan X

EDIT: Since a few people have brought this up, I should clarify that these monitors do not work with DP 1.2 in a daisy chain for multi-monitor set ups. If you're buying one for a single monitor set up, or plan on using multiple ports to connect mulit-monitors, then this issue should not be apparent.
EDIT2: It should be noted that these monitors do NOT have a DVI input. Only Displayport. Which means if you want to have a multi monitor setup, you have to have a GPU with multiple DP outputs OR you daisy chain from 1 DP output (which is defective). If you want to use a DVI to DP cable, you have to get an active adapter which costs about $80 Amazon Link. It's ridiculous for consumers to have to spend additional money to get their monitors to work as intended...
EDIT3: Another issue that I forgot to mention is that the HDMI connection on the U2414Hs also have issues transmitting correct resolution/refresh rate see here. The issue seems to be related to the fact that the U2414H does not transmit it's UDID correctly to the PC, which picks it up as Generic PnP Monitor. So even the workarounds for this issue result in a separate batch of issues. Overall, the monitor is just not good for it's intended use case. There needs to be a recall for those of us that bought more than 1 of these monitors. If not, then Dell needs to fix it. There are no other options, in my mind.
EDIT4: I'm getting a ton of messages in my inbox from people with similar issues asking what to do. If you want things to change, Dell needs to realize they cannot make shoddy products, sell them for full price, and do nothing at all to support/fix hardware design issues. Please, share this with other forums, anywhere really. The more people aware of this, the better. I know there are a lot of you who bought this, so make your voices be heard and maybe we can get Dell to issue a fix.
I know the U2414h gets tossed around her a bit, mostly because of it's beautifully thin bezels and sharp display. In fact, everything about the U241H is actually a step up from older models. The AG coating is spare, the display is responsive (60Hz refresh), and it looks simply amazing in all applications.
However, once you buy one you will realize that the monitors simply do not work over displayport reliably. Period. There's no workaround, no solution. If you have a multimonitor setup using displayport on these guys, you WILL eventually have problems where one or both of the monitors will not be detected.
Check out this post on the official dell forms for a good synopsis:

That was posted in February 2014 and is 5 pages deep with complaints. Do a google search for this issue and you'll find even more posts: https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=u2414h+mst+site:en.community.dell.com&tbas=0
If you look on the Dell forums, you'll see dozens of unresolved posts about this same issue. Same symptoms and diagnosis over and over again with nary a solution from Dell.
To get a taste of how ridiculous and frustrating this is for owners of this monitor, check out this thread: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3529/t/19587848
This post pretty much sums it up: http://i.imgur.com/apnRbJ2.png
Finally, user alexzogh just posted the first hard evidence that this issue originates from the monitors themselves and NOT the GPU: http://i.imgur.com/mphwq2m.png (Forum Link)
Link to the stream grabber for the MST: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~airlied/linux/commit/?id=ad7f8a1f9ced7f049f9b66d588723f243a7034cd
I think the most ridiculous part of all this is Dell's response:
http://i.imgur.com/9Owr5wq.png
AKA: works for us so it must be you
And then this gem: http://i.imgur.com/m7nrFUQ.png
"No there will be no recall. All you can do is keep asking for exchanges. This is the only way to force the manufacturer to act."
So ultimately I'm posting this because, in accordance to Dell's own advice in that last image, I'm raising awareness about this issue so other owners speak up and force them to do something about this. I spent a good amount of my budget on my monitors and it really sucks when my custom built pc runs flawlessly except for the displays.
For those thinking about getting these monitors: AVOID THEM. You have no idea how much time you will waste trying to get them to work when the second or third display will randomly go out. You'll just be unplugging cables, reseting your machine, and playing with option menus seemingly randomly until it decides to work again. Major issues with this one.

How about other cards?

I have 3 of these, and daisy chaining them definitely does not work. I had to spend on a couple of DVI to HDMI cables, and even then the scaling is off (had to fix it in CCC). I'm hoping that there's a driver fix for this, but nothing has landed in the 6 months that i've had them.

Its a beautiful monitor otherwise, with accurate colour reproduction and overall design. Now if only Dell would fix the whole displayport issue.

Will there be these problems if only one monitor is used?

There shouldn't be a problem if you only use a single monitor. You'll only need to run it at DP 1.1, as this is a 1080p monitor, and you won't need the additional bandwidth for passthrough.

Even multi-monitor setup is only a problem if you daisy-chain. I'm using a R7850 Twin Frozr and just running 2 DP out to my U2414Hs with no problem.

For casual use I only turn on 1 monitor, and no issue.

Introduction

Dell's UltraSharp range always attracts quite a lot of attention and they always seem to do a good job of updating their screens to offer buyers something a bit new and different each time they do. The latest 2014 range screen in a 24" size (actually 23.8") is the U2414H. The "U" signifies it is part of their UltraSharp range, and the "H" signifies it is a 16:9 aspect screen. This is a change from their previous 24" class monitors (U2412M and U2413) which have been 16:10 aspect ratio. What is particularly different about this new model is the design, and Dell have gone for an ultra-thin side bezel and are marketing this screen as being ideal for multi-screen setups. Its connectivity is geared at providing Daisy-chaining via the DisplayPort interfaces, and the ability to display your mobile phone screen on the display using the HDMI with MHL support.

Those seem to be the key messages Dell are promoting with the U2414H, but behind that they have kept some of the high end features which have made the U-series so popular over the years. The screen is again IPS based, using a modern AH-IPS panel from LG.Display. There are also some extras like USB 3.0 ports, touch-sensitive buttons and also a factory calibrated preset mode. It should be noted that unlike a lot of the other recent UltraSharp screens this model does not offer hardware calibration and is a standard gamut unit. It seems to be produced as a possible replacement for their U2412M model which is currently still available, and will surely run alongside the higher pro-grade UltraSharp screens with wide gamut, 10-bit support and hardware calibration (U2413). This is their more general, multimedia option for your average user. Dell also have a similar model in their P-series which is the P2414H we tested recently. Throughout the review we will try to make some comparisons between the two to help you understand the differences.

See your work in vivid Full HD detail with a 23.8" monitor that features the world’s thinnest border for nearly seamless viewing across multiple screens
