Desktop auto shutdown

Desktop powered off during middle of dota2. Twice already.

Recently switched my parts to the new casing. Not sure what happened. can someone advice how I can troubleshoot?

yes. i could feel the hot air coming out from my desktop before it auto shut down.

i removed the gtx 1060 and managed to play 2 rounds of dota 2 using mobo gpu.

I did not change any parts. it was alright before i switched to the new casing. i did remove the aio from the CPU and put it back on again. Do i need to remove and re-apply the thermal paste again?

anyone encountered this before?

U mean u did not clean the surface of the cpu and heatsink/aio before reinstalling it in new case?

Maybe u should do so and ensure all screws , i.e.e those securing mobo to case and the aio to mobo, are properly tightened but not overly tightened .

Can I just use tissue and wipe away the old thermal paste? Or need any special liquid to clean it? Thanks

What I did was I went pharmacy like Guardian or Watson and buy alcohol swap. They sell like 10 small pieces for $0.50.

Use the alcohol swap to clean off surfaces of the heat sink and cpu of used thermal paste. Thereafter I use coffee filter paper to clean one more time. Those cleaning cloth for spectacles also can.

Do not use tissue paper as it could leave small broken pieces in your system which is not recommended.

I reapplied the thermal paste for my CPU and GPU. This time my desktop lasted for 4 hours and it decided to shutdown on its on again. CPU temperature was at 31-40 degrees during normal usage. 45-47 when I was playing dota2.

Really not sure where went wrong.

just my 2 cents. ATM temps seem okay 45 degrees under load is fine.

maybe its power supply having problem. can try download hwmonitor or hwinfo to check voltage under load. Also can try running prime95 and furmark just to see max temperature.
