I am intending to get a desktop over a laptop that cost 3k, too used to desktop.

However I walked through funan and many other shops, not many have medium-high desktop for sale.

I am comparing specs and size of X51 I7 alienware. Would like to know if I should get a ready made acer/asus/dell kind of desktop or try make own desktop which I have nvr done so. Only know I need a case, power, ram, motherboard, processor, graphic card, network.

Any recommendations from da bros here? Kind of want a small size case like the x51

With a 3K budget you can get high end iTX rig. Just google iTX casing see which casing suit you.

DIY is way much better.... freedom to choose your own parts and spec it according to your own needs.

is diy cheaper than retail stock ready cpus?

Yes, in most builds, DIYs are significantly cheaper than OEMs and you get superior parts to boot. Answer these questions.

1) What do you want to do with the rig?
2) What games will you be playing with this rig?

Personally, I think it depends. For DIY system the benefits are mainly,
1) You can customize your rig to your liking.
2) Better in value, since most gaming rigs are expensive.

For Pre-build systems,
1) Warranty - Their technicians will troubleshoot for you. For desktops, its usually onsite warranty.

Both have their benefits to be honest. So it really depends on yourself.

For me, I ended up with an Aftershock gaming laptop cause since I started work, I don't have the time to troubleshoot my computer. So it becomes a pain for me when something goes wrong. Their good after sales service works best for me. ;)

I think ts should go for gigabyte brix like ark mention, can check out the overview from tech of tomorrow at YouTube. Or alternatively can just go ahead and build a simple itx desktop, any problem just post here, bros here will cfm help de or gs will also. Or can get best of both world, a simple laptop for outside use and another itx pc for home use. 3k should be more than enough

Imho brix according to linustechtips is problematic. Specs are good but its throttling all the way to heaven. Its just physics theres no way u can cool something well so small outside of watercooling.

Why buy a 760 to have it run like a 750

But you pay for it mah. I rather instead of buying like brix u custom build a tiny sff mini itx or even smaller.

Lols but npw itx pc very common alot of nice itx come out, ts should really consider itx pc. But if you are not overclocking no need aio ba
