Desktop Rig "tripped" can't power on

Hi All,

Funny problem occurs twice this week. Think many people saw my newly built rig recently..

Last couple of days, was doing work halfway through, the desktop automatically "tripped" it was a sudden off PC situation (somewhat power trip), the pc refused to turn on despite pressing the power button, only can power on if i unplugged the power cord for a few second and plug back

Today, same thing happen, was playing game halfway, it tripped again. Was wondering what could it be the issue for this.

I'm suspecting it could be either overheat, or the PSU is faulty. Anybody got experience such situation before?

Could be consuming too much power but i think im leaning towards faulty psu. I dont know much about these kind of situations though

7800x3d + 4070 super both actually draw big power , plus the cm v series also quite alot bad reputation.

Suggest at least 750w super flower/ Corsair or seasonic

try changing your PSU to a 750w

try remove ur graphic card and do stress test with onboard gpu see if it trip.

if nv trip then high chance is ur psu not enough juice or faulty.

does indeed sound like a psu issue. is the hybrid mode engaged? did come across a reddit post that surmised that the hybrid mode is not really made for tropical climates, so it could be that the psu is overheating as the fan is only triggered above a certain load. try disabling it so the fan runs all the time and see if things improve.

looks like it. hybrid mode is engaged. i'm monitoring to see if turning off makes any difference.

If turning off hybrid doed not help/ Just take other members advise and get a more powerful psu, hopefully it's not cause by faulty circuit from other components that cause the power trip.
Anyway can you link images of your new built computer ?

Cooler master psu are bad quality, some have issue either switch off during load.
Or when trip it won't turn on.
TS you can try:
1) Unplug the power cable
2) Flip the switch 5 times to reset the PSU
This may temporarily make it work.
Best to change to a better psu like Corsair or Seasonic.

already tried running wukong benchmark for about 15minutes no issue

u can go try undervolting, My 4070ti at stock draws about 270 watts. Undervolted to 2820mhz @ 0.98V and draws 180-200W at 55-56 degrees when gaming. If you really want can try 2550mhz @ 0.9V, i did that for awhile and ran at about 150-160W while gaming at 50 degrees, thought you lose about 10% performance doing that.

I remember I had similar problem in the past but I can't recall what it actually is.

While many suggested that it is likely PSU, I believe it could also very well be motherboard such that bad capacitor or VRM caused unstable voltage, given that you need to turn off your switch to completely discharge the electricity inorder to boot back up.

The PSU is plenty of power. 4070S around 200w if you don't undervolted it. 7800X3D around 100w if you don't CO it. Still plenty of 350 watt left for other parts and those don't even take that much power.

It is hard to determine either of part (PSU or MB) is faulty or not, I am not a expert at diagnosing faulty component.

This might sound kinda odd but maybe try changing the cmos battery, who knows if that battery might have caused unstable voltage.

i think getting the rig stable is my main focus now.. undervolt will come later if i want to bring down the consumption of the power.

Try posting your core voltage readings here and check the 12vhpwr plug
