Desktop will not boot up.

I built this gaming rig about 6 years ago. Until recently, turning it on is really see heng suay. Sometimes can on, sometimes cannot on. It shouldn't be my graphic card, EVGA 650 problem because if can turn on, got display. I highly suspect my motherboard disiaosiao. I don't really remember what is the model of my motherboard but it's ASUS one lah.

I just consulted Fynd on how much it costs for diagnostics and to replace motherboard. They approximate around $200-400. Hence, I am thinking of just upgrading it liao. If I buy a new motherboard, do I need to replace my GPU and processor, i5-3470 also?

Any help is hugely appreciated! Arigato, guys!

try clean rams - take out ram sticks, use soft eraser to rub clean the golden contact regions...

Den what about your PSU? Like any brands or model? Cos there could be chances where by PSU also giving in.

whats your psu model? its possible psu issue.

if you intending to upgrade your motherboard, you will need to change your cpu, ram. graphic card can still reuse.

You can use your existing components if you buy a replacement socket 1155 motherboard. Should be less than $100.

Suggest you troubleshoot first to determine if it is indeed MB problem or PSU problem.

Suggest you

1. Reseat the ram / memory
2. When you removed them out clean the memory gold pin with eraser like what other has suggested.

Encounter a few friends old desktop with the same issue

If motherboard issue no need pay 200-400 for diagnostics waste money. Just buy replacement 1155 mobo from taobao $35 settle. Upgrade your system to current gen need change to ddr4 ram processor motherboard easily cost up to $500-$600.

Any other symptoms when you turn on, like the
- PSU working or not, inside Fan spin or not.
- What is the LED light status, Power LED on but HDD led off?
- Remove all PCI card & RAM, try clean the dust and put it back 1 by 1 to test.
