I just got battlefield 4 as a xmas gift so i install and try to play. Game stutter even with low setting. Now desperately need to upgrade PC with low budget of around $510 to play this.

This is what I have currently:
Intel dual core E5200 processor
Gigabyte Ep43 motherboard
2gb ram
1TB hard disk X 2
X- fi soundcard pci-e
Powercolor HD5870 graphics card
21 inch monitor with 1600x900 resolution.

I was thinking of getting new processor, mobo and ram. Then use back graphics card +hard drive + soundcard +case. Then i upgrade graphics card maybe 1 month later. Until then wanna be able to at least play bf4 on low settings.

I was looking at MSI PC mate and Asus H97 mobos. Asus stuff are more expensive .....means better quality ? For processor thinking of 4690. I need to be able to fit the pci-e soundcard without blocking the graphics card so i think i cannot go for matx stuff. I also see other advice in this forum suggesting h81. But I need min 5 usb port and more sata port for future hard drive and ssd. Overclockable Pc is out of my budget range.

Your monitor isnt a full hd resolution. Get an SSD.

The best option is to get the
ASRock h81m HDS + i5-4460 ~ $299
Crucial 8gb 1600mhz Value Ram ~ $96
Plextor m6s 128gb ~ $99
Reuse everything else

Total ~ $494. Buy at tradepac, DIY.

E5200 is pretty old, you can try overclock it.

12.5x200, change to 12.5x266.

Everything else AUTO.

CPU Host Clock Control - Enabled
CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) - 266
Performance Enhance - Standard (No difference one)

system is already quite old, hardly any point.

My PSU is Enermax liberty eco 620W. icute PSU dead already.

I think installing my soundcard will block graphics card on the asrock h81m mobo. The asrock also dun have enuf sata port. 2 sata will filled by 2 hard drive i have now and 1 for dvd drive. SSD is a future upgrade as i still saving up to get the 256GB version in abt 1.5 months.

You might want to install either Window 8 or 7. My old specs last time are capable of running BF4 at med due to my previous OS window vista, it gave me alot of frame rate shuttering. After changing to Window 8, frame rate became silky smooth at medium setting.

I very scared of being stingy on mobo. I have had very bad experience with cheap mobos like biostar and abit before. They were unstable and gave me alot of blue screen errors. I looking for something stable. I have never tried Asrock before though.

Is the MSI H97 PC mate a good mobo choice ? Or should i get Asus H87 plus ? The i5 4460 is lowest end i5 processor right, is it better if i go for something mid range like 4590 or 4690 ? Wanna be able to use at least for 1.5 yrs.

Will those rams like corsair vengeance ddr3 give better performance compared to crucial value ram ? Or is it just eye candy with nice colors ?

Motherboard of all brand nowadays uses good quality. I've use Asus, MSI and Asrock and none have failed me before.

For motherboard, get the cheaper one that fulfill your NEEDS. i5 4690 is around $50 more expensive than i5 4460 but the gaming performance gain is less than 2%. Are you willing to pay $50 for that 2% extra improvement?

More like eye candy with nice colors. Almost zero performance increase AT ALL!

So gaming wise i5 4690 no better than 4460. But will it be faster for anything else ? I was searching about the corsair vengeance and value rams. There were some claims in other forums saying that cl9 will feel faster than cl11 value rams. I have no idea how true it is. I am still searching.

You will see slight differences for photoshop, rendering, etc. No differences if you are gaming or normal usage.

there are slight differences in benchmark but you won't feel any differences in normal usage and gaming.

A 4460 is a beast of a processor for gaming. Times have changed and current Intel processors have exceeded the requirements of gaming. You can spend more if you want but you won't see any gain in your games or day to day usage. Mobo get a as rock h81 it comes equipped with all you need. A h97 won't affect your games a single bit.

its like ram you can install 32 gb if you want, benchmark softwares will show a better result, but your games won't perform any better than a 8gb system. Just your wallet lighter that's it.

I did use a h97 pc mate in my sis build about a week ago. Running smooth so far.

I checked intel website and it says intel 4460 clock is 3.2Ghz and 3.4Ghz turbo. For intel 4590 its 3.3Ghz and 3.7Ghz turbo. There is more diff in turbo speed. Even this has no major effect on speed in real life apps or game ? This is just hard to digest.

I looked at Asrock H81M HDS mobo. This can save me alot of money which i can put into graphics card but has some problem. It really looks like no space for my soundcard if put in graphics card. Anyone have this mobo ? Is there space for souncard after slotting in graphics card ? Then this mobo oni have max 4 sata port. I have 2 hard drive + sata dvd drive. Then i will be adding another hard disk and SSD in a few months time. So need to find something with 6 sata port.

You still won't feel any differences. Even if you get an i7 4770 or i5 4690K overclocked to 4.5Ghz, you still won't feel any different UNLESS you are into photoshop, rendering, etc.

Many people are asking this question too, i found one

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic...70k-4690k-can-you-really-feel-the-difference/

What does your soundcard uses? PCIEx1 or PCI slot?
