Device Manager (Code 43) - GPU. Need Help!

Hi Guys,

I'm currently running 2x Gigabyte R9280x Crossfire and I'm having issues with one of the cards. I no longer have the option of crossfiring in CCC and I get the message 'Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems' (Code 43).

I've tested both cards independently and both work fine. Both cards have also been checked by the Gigabyte guys and no faults were picked up. Both have also been flashed with the latest bios.

My motherboard just came back from Corbell and no faults were found with regards to crossfiring. They also helped in update my bios to the latest one available.

The testing of the components by CDL and Corbell were not done using my power supply so I was wondering if it could it a PSU issue, issue with the PSU cables, HDMI cable, monitor?

Would really appreciate any feedback or help. Thanks a bunch guys!

Might be PSU or the cabling(swap cables around) or you need to clean the slots and reseat the card or clean the crossfire bridge or swap the card position.

I've tried swapping the cables from the card in the secondary slot to the card in the primary slot and it powers up just fine so I think I can rule out any PSU or PSU cable problems. I've also cleaned the slots and bridge. Tried swapping the cards but the card in the secondary slot still gets the code 43 error.

Driving me nuts!

Try to google the problem online and see if it helps...

Tried googling and the solutions given are all things that I have tried. Updated all the drivers, updated to the latest bios (mobo and both cards), tested the PSU cables and both work fine.

Download Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) and uninstall everything. Both AMD and Nvidia just in case. Do it in safemode.

Which PSU are you using? Its total amperage across the rails might not be enough to run the crossfire with all the other hardware in your PC.

Okay, I'll give give that a try.
