9 before breakfast is the lowest BG I can muster
14 is the stable BG after meals, 23 was before starting Metformin
I need to work harder

WOE diet could be similar to what my wife arranged for me

Breakfast 4 hard boiled eggs, 1/4 piece sweet potato, 1 cup kopi-o no sugar no milk

Constipation is a problem now, with Metformin 4 tablets daily, was diagnosed diabetic a week ago

Me at 61kg 1.76m 52yo need to exercise but I could end up slimmer than my wife. Now waiting for yoga mat and indoor bicycle.

I used to be 80-90+ kg a year ago
bmi 20
sweet potato is high gi....
if possible, temp stop eating white rice until u recover.... find alternative

hard boil egg+ sweet potato will cause constipation.... lol

u need something to lubricate your digestive system.
for me, i use oily chicken or milk.....to flush the stubborn food.

u can look at this channel for gi reference.

as long as u **** regularly wont get alot of disease
f regularly?
I was hoping some others new diagnosed T2D reply to u, since I have some time b4 my appointment, let me try to do some key points to start you off.

Being at BMI 19.7 ,

indeed not much weight to reduce, for those who are overweight, when they dropped 10-15% of it will normally have drastic improvement in their hba1c.

Your case most likely -TOFI--- Thin outside, Fat inside.

You might like to do the following blood work first to determine your baseline.

Fasting Blood Glucose & Blood insulin together to know your HOMA_IR

Fasting C Peptide to know whether your pancreas can still produce the necessary amount of insulin.
( one member , @Eien_kisu , has posted this , in one of the thread I think as far back as 2010).

Only after the results are in, can u decide to "formulate" which intervention that u can use ?

For some T2D, some is because of too much insulin and the body has become resistance to it ,

some is because their production of insulin is not enough.

T2D is a lifestyle problem... which can be "solved" by using lifestyle interventions.

Food made up of three Major Macros Nutrients, Protein, Fats and Carbs....

so play with this three macros ratios.... each person carbs tolerance is different.

Choose 1 method and stick to it for at least 3-4 months and

your results will indicate to you further you are doing it correctly or it is not the right method for U?

Do lots of research, plenty available in EDMW and other sections, a search will even give u postings of 2010.

Look out for T2Ds who have done it,

and not those "internet doctors" who are not doctors and do not have the same conditions to speak from experiences.

YOU have your own medical doctor to consult ?

I think that is all to get you started,

I normally dont "spoon feed"

I prefer them to "work and research themselves" this is one of the "traits" of people who have been successful who are able to put on their thinking caps and not just on what textbooks or standard practices are.

Hope u have a successful Diabetes Remission Journey.

Ps I like to be direct which should be the way i feel in combating this disease,

some people prefer the softer approach.

c-peptide of 0.5 ng/ml to 2.7 ng/ml is normal. Less than 0.5 ng/ml is beta cell death.

Thanks for the range... did it I think 4 years ago, cant remembered off my head what was my value(should be above 1 definitely below 2), but was ok.

By the way do you know any place in SG where you can take the Kraft test ( basically the OGTT and the corresponding insulin assay?).

I mean Kraft test, I am not interested in OGTT.

OGTT can be done at polyclinic for $50

This is Kraft test, after Dr Kraft

FYI since 2019, I have been looking for it, only found them available in two clinical studies conducted in SG
, one of the lead investigator is the Co founder of NOVI Health, the other one was the Former President of Diabetes Singapore, she lecture at Temasek Polytechnic both inclusion criteria is Hba1c above 6.5%.

Think only clinical trials setting will you see it in SG and even than it is rare.

not that i know of. requires a lot of pokes? i don't think most Singaporeans will like to do the Kraft test. My colleagues don't even do health screening, their reason they draw too much blood.

This I think if one is interested in their body metabolism, should be the gold standard.

Don't think poke a few time, I think one time, but blood draw will be done at 30 min interval.

Well some people don't like the sight of blood.... I have no such problem.

In fact I think most Singaporeans are also not interested in Health, because thread like yours which started in 2010 is "dead" and this one is almost "dead" as well...seems people are more interested in other topics than health ?

Anyway I read on some social media, A Prof Dean Ho is experimenting on putting his own body in ketosis using himself as a test subject, not sure whether he is recruiting for other participants...would be interesting to join for such study too.

Almost every lab in SG which I use has a Cobas e411.... insulin is quite easy to measure compare to say GLP and GIP
I test for my fasting insulin every 2 years basically.

I have posted my insulin sensitivity history in this thread, maybe 3-4 page back.

I am talking about Kraft Test, I provided a link where a good write up is there( in the post above).

I have already asked the Hospital they don't do it(kraft test), One of the lead investigator has told me that hard to find for retail customer. The lab( cant remembered the name now- contact was given to me by her) will only do for clinical trials.

She actually tried to make an exception for me, find my record when I was diagnosed and above 6.5% she will put me in, but I could only find 2013 and already the highest was 5.7 so I dont qualify.

I think it might be Innoquest or something like that cant be sure.

You understood it wrong. Woe cannot include sweet potato, root based veg which is very high in carbs.

Your weight and height is good but still have way too high glucose in your blood system. Can try taking away more carbs from diet until your body stabalised further.

Since your wife preps your meals such as breakfast for you, it is easier to cook a lower carb meal.

You can try increasing 1g to 1.5g of protein intake per 1kg of your body weight, if you have no kidney issues.

Increase healthy fats i.e avocado, baked nuts such as macadamia, almonds provided you have no allergy to them.

For veg, please choose green leafy grown above the ground. Not root vegs such as sweet potatos.

Can share more if you are interested

Now reduced carb consumption greatly, rice portion 3 tablespoons only, the rest mainly vege & fish/pork steam/boil, snack is small cup sweet potato

Going to buy those indoor bike for exercise

2 caps Metformin before meals, twice daily
Blood glucose reading
9.0 Early morning wake up
10.5 - 14.4 After dinner
Slowly but surely, can try to replace the rice and sweet potato with more veggies , low calories somemore
Can try including nuts as snacks too but take note on the portion

Today jiak half pc soy chicken ,100g of pistachio and 30g of pine nuts
My blood sugar from freestyle libre

Try to aim your blood sugar with improved reading daily ,even if it's a 0.1 data point

Below is a YouTube video :- The shocking Truth About Berberine .

It is 51 minutes long, those who have no time, I think first 15 minutes should be enough.

( there is more information than just Berberine in this program, as there is a question & answers
from viewers , eg fasting , how long to fast to see effect, cholesterol, statin etc ).

Personally, I buy the Berberine Roots & ground them to powder, take it only in the morning.

As you can see Medical Professionals in other countries are comfortable discussing topics like this,

can we say the same about the MPs in Singapore ?

@mummynew might be interesting for you to explore ?
( there is also discussion about statin in this program too).

This is my last blood ketone strips (think should be March 2024) and this is when I am already eating min 100g to as high as 180g TC /day
for the last 9 to 12 months. Just to shows that I practiced what I shared on myself.

But since durian season, my FBG is basically 5.0 and above....so only after the cheap season is over, than I think
I should be able to be 5 and below.

Mine today is 5.8
Same as durian season plus 1 week vacation without fasting.
Previously can get 4.8

Yeah, I am eating every day during lunch 2-3 seeds.... 2 hr after lunch reading is good, yesterday b4 lunch
was 5.4 , 1 hr 5.7 2 hours 5.5.

Think all fructose went into the liver, so "throwing" them out in the morning fasting numbers.( my today is 5.7)

By the way I will be going for another diabetic clinical trial assessment test in Aug to see whether I can be included into the study, after that when I have more details and if you are still interested to participate in clinical study I will PM you ?
